Great signing. Big Daz is injured, what would happen if Paul Hanlon got suspended or injured, we would be very thin at the back so a guy with that stature is good in my mind.

I wonder what changed his mind???

Turned us down earlier in the window due to the wages on offer...
Money from SJM transfer allows Hibs to up offer?

A lot of people seeing him as a centre half for us, I'm pretty certain he's coming in to play in our midfield as a DM and would just cover CH if required.

At least we know who your next target is.

You seem to be in a spiky mood of late?

Obviously hope this guy does well for us, but I think it’s reasonable to question the signing of a 33 year old on a 2 yr deal.

Would you question the signing of any 33 year old?

Any of the softies in our midfield.

In reality he will play the strongman/quarterback role in front of the centre backs, will take the ball from the back and spray it about with his passing ability.

At least we won't have to suffer Whittaker playing that role again. Suspect he will also be relieved about this.
I wonder what his goal shot average is?

That 33 year old Ronaldo guy would be a decent signing.

There are loads of older players holding down their place in top leagues around the world.

Franck Sauzee was 33 when he signed for us.

Russell Latapy was 33 when he signed for Rangerd and 35 when he signed for Falkirk, staying for 4 years and playing 167 times.

Playing till 35 yo isn't a big stretch.

Just cos the last 33 year old who signed for us has looked a bit off the pace, that’s all.

Cristiano Ronaldo is 33 and apparently worth €100m but I’m not in the mood to row about it.

The last sh*t I had was disapointing. Doesn't mean to say I'm not looking forward to my next one.

Looks a good signing, not bothered about his age as long as he can still do a job for us, plenty guys still at the top in their 30's, Modric, Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta etc, players are fitter nowadays with all the sports science stuff, welcome aboard.

Great pedigree, excited about this signing. Welcome to Hibs.

If him and Efe can blend, we could have a very dangerous and versatile combo. When Efe goes on an "Efe", he can slot in to the defense and cover. Could be useful.

I think he’ll be a decent signing due to the fact he was a starter at the World Cup a couple of months ago. You’re not a huddy if you manage that. It’s not unreasonable to have reservations about his age though, especially when the majority of ‘older’ players we’ve signed recently haven’t been up to much.

A good signing from Hibs and just what was needed. Just get Scott Allan now and we'll be a solid bet again for the top 4.

    Pretty much this.

We were able to run with fewer central midfielders last season as we had settled players in that area. We now have more to choose from and shape a decent midfield from.

The quality is there it just has to be moulded into a unit.

Does Milligan’s signing suggest any interest in SA is dwindling? I can’t see SA sitting tight picking up a wage for nowt. He needs game time so he might move on somewhere.
Totally unrelated I'd guess...i think Allan will be the next and last signing of this window tbh

Can anyone who doesn't think Milligan is a good signing explain why?
    Genuinely interested?
    Also. My conspiracy.
Hyndeman only here till Jan cos SA has agreed to sign pre contract

That’s the way I see it Mac.

FWIW as I have posted on another thread.

Mark Milligan, who incidentally was raised about 20 minutes drive along the M5 from where I live....is one of the few players in world football who can boast of being included in 4 World Cup Finals squads for his country.

That suggests he has been a consistent performer over many years.

He won’t score many goals, except possibly from the penalty spot, but he will be add an industrious defensive midfield presence, and is capable of filling gaps anywhere in defence.

Hibs 3rd Australian internationalist if I am correct.

    I think it is.

    Milligan, Maclaren and Stuart Lovell.

Only flaw with that theory is we still wouldn’t have him until next season.

I don’t know if he will be a good signing or not, my only concern is his age.
At this stage he is past his peak and his abilities are in decline. That’s true for the vast majority of players. Can we squeeze two good years out of him? Maybe. But it’s more of a risk than signing a 25 year old.
