Why ? I want to keep tabs on SJM want him to be a massive player for Scotland and id imagine we will have a tidy sell on clause
Absolutely. So there is a direct connection between SJM doing well and Hibs benefitting.

There is also the slightly more indirect benefit that when looking to attract good young prospects in the future we can use SJM as a perfect example of how me can add value to their career.

Finally I want him to do well just to prove what we have been saying about him for 3 years is true.

Always thought he would go for 5mil. Disappointed.but on this showing hes worth millions more than that.
Bugger cant even hold up my big told you so banner. Annoyed as hell.
His worth was always lower due to being a player having about a year left on his contract and playing for a club of our relative stature.
Whether or not anyone thinks this is fair or reasonable is irrelevant in determining his value for being sold.

If we've got £2.75 million (minus whatever the St Mirren sell on was) plus a decent sell on clause inserted I think we've done well.
The fact that people we've never heard of are going from Norwich to Leicester for £25m has nothing to do with it.

The best part is that he didn't go West and I can now follow his career and hope he's a success.

In all the fall out from the McGinn saga, it seems it’s now obligatory for the media to say Celtc missed out on their “long term target”.

When Hibs played Celtc last season and Rodgers was invited to comment on McGinn, he went out of his way to dismiss any comparison with Scott Brown and talked him down.

If McGinn was indeed a long term target, it was a strange way to act.

Steve Bruce was very much personally involved in persuading McGinn to move to Villa.

It’s convenient for Rodgers to blame his board, but the Celtc hierarchy might also ask their manager why he didn’t push harder for the player if he really wanted him.

I think Celtc miscalculated massively, and assumed they held all the cards.

I took Rodgers' quote at the time in the same way I regarded Lennon's comments last week about not having much room left in the budget ie a negotiating tactic rather than a statement of fact.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

The EEN said that we had banked £2.75 mln so. I assume that is what we got after st mirren got their 30%

I hope the love in comments from Hibs fans come to an end pronto, it's becoming very Celtic-esque.
    Celtic-esque?

I've absolutely no idea what you mean.

Are you referring to all the "Bring him home" comments we've had on here about players like Deek, Griffiths and currently Scott Allan?

    That's Hibs-esque, no?

Good to see him keeping them down now. A few juice bottles used to get tanned in the FF lower at "shootie in" training before KO

He will prove to be the bargain of the (English) season by a mile, across all their leagues. Gutted he’s gone but we’re going to get another massive windfall from the lad.

    Legend.

Celtic will pick him up at end of season, when his relegation clause kicks in

Somewhat hyperbolic blog there, but it sure was a great strike.

Sorry for bringing this thread up again.
SJM has had a very decent first half, almost scored.
    HT Villa 1-0 Bolton.

That run towards the end of the half..classic turn using his backside and a powerful surge before crossing. That's my boy. Sensational.
