Sorry if it's already been mentioned but Pune City the Indian club who allegedly tried to get Nanny McPhee from Hearts have released a statement (i know i know) categorically denying having spoken to him or anyone at Hearts. Sounds like an in house ploy by Hearts to make it look like they have a managerial super team who are in demand.
Very strange and amateurish goings on at that club. I don't really expect anything less tbh.

Maybe fielding the ineligible player was all a cunning Baldrick type plan toget kicked out of the tournament because the new pitch ain’t ready or someone from the council has said they need an occupation certificate before they can open the place for the new season.
Embarrassing themselves to save embarrassment!

Lying cheating thieving is all part of the mutants makeup, always doing it always have done always will do. Hope the SFA throw them out and a fine.

What's the actual rule, I know other clubs have been eliminated for this before (quite recently).

I see AllisBarry at EEN reports that both Cove Rangers and Stranraer were fined for similar mistakes back in 2016.
Difference was in neither of those cases were the players fielded, they were unused subs.
The disaplinary board emphisesed the point that no sporting advantage was gained so a sporting sanction would be inappropriate.
Hearts situation is different but Barry ignores it in his drivel column.

I realise that's quite lenient, but I'm in a good mood and it should be enough to ensure they don't do it again.

I'd expect them to get the same punishment as other teams in this situation. A 3-0 defeat and a fine.
It's just a shame it wasn't a knockout game, rather than a league game (of sorts). Still, they can't afford any slip ups now as all of the other teams will beat Cove Rangers.

Hearts field ineligible player vs Cove.
My favourite post....it’s now the officials fault because they should check from a list of eligible players. 🤣

As a side issue and a bug bear of mine.
We give team line ups to a League official before the game (referee), he accepts that and game starts. He should have a list from SFA of who is able to play for both teams.

'Hearts: Craig Levein says club will 'accept' sanctions for fielding Andrew Irving'
Wow - how civil and sporting of them !. The SPL will be absolutely delighted with this news as they were no doubt worried sick about Hearts not accepting any punishment whatsoever as the SPL are powerless to take any further action .......................

"It gives us a common cause to rally together," said Levein.
Is he trying to generate some kind of victim culture?
You made the mistake so don't try to spin it as someone elses fault and that you are being picked on in some way!?!

"Common cause to rally around" 🤣
Fielding ineligible players, what a cause to fight for.

Interesting to see if there CEO reacts by giving something back to the fans who wasted there time travelling to that game, rather like our CEO is offering to give something to the guys whos plane couldnt land in the Faroes yesterday. Difference being it wasnt Hibs fault but offer still has been made and the other was the clubs fault. 1 HIBS CLASS 2 Hearts class.

Looking at the groups, it looks like Hearts will need to win all three games to qualify. 7 points is unlikely to be enough to be one of the 4 best 2nd place finishes.
