    Europa League Disciplinary Rules

At the game last night we were talking about how stupid yellow cards in round 1 could cost us should we progress. This morning I checked UEFA's rules on yellow cards and suspensions for the qualifying rounds.

Turns out that players are suspended after 3 yellow cards in qualifying, not 2 as I had feared. It's on page 44 of the link below.

Yellow cards are only wiped after the play-off round, so at the start of the group stages.

There's 3 qualifying rounds, then a play off game, then the groups.

Does the playoff count as qualifying for the purposes of suspensions?

Yeah it does. The play-off round is qualifying round 4. After the play-off games the yellows are wiped.
