Should we get past our friends from the Faroes where have people booked in Athens, would be quite good if everybody was staying in or around the same area of the city so we could all meet for a bevy and get the buses etc.
I'm reluctant to book anything until after the first leg v Runavik as hopefully there will be a convincing scoreline in our favour meaning we can start making firm plans.
So where have people booked?
Cheers, HC

I've booked that hotel you've booked, in Athens but also have a back up plan of the Alex Hotel in Tripolis should my Athens plans fall through, theres no point in staying there if I cant get transport to the game and back.

We stayed just off Omonia square when we were last in Athens, and it was quite a location. Ladies of the night patroling the streets, and an indoor market that sold all sorts of live creatures stuffed into crates way too small for the anout in there.
Loved the place.

In general I think the area that surrounds omonia Square is quite sketchy anyway so for people changing hotels, I would only really do it if your getting a cheaper deal. Mansion hotel where I'm staying says in area there are 'ladies of the night' that might approach as well as a lot of homeless people.
I think this is commonplace in this area as I don't think Athens or Greece in general has ever recovered from the Euro crisis a few years back and as a result some people have lost pretty much everything.
In short I don't think it is anything to worry about just keep your valuables out of sight and don't be to drunk if walking alone. Standard procedure.
