    Europa Prize Money

Just trying to get my head around how much of a game changer this could be...

So I'm guessing it's an additional €20,000 for each qualifying round, rather than an additional €260,000 say for getting through the first qualifying round?

    • Preliminary round: €220,000
    • First qualifying round: €240,000
    • Second qualifying round: €260,000
    • Third qualifying round: €280,000
    • Play-off round elimination: €300,000
    • Base fee for group stage: €2,920,000
    • Group match victory: €570,000
    • Group match draw: €190,000
    • Group winners: €1,000,000
    • Group runners-up: €500,000
    • Round of 32: €500,000
    • Round of 16: €1,100,000
    • Quarter-finals: €1,500,000
    • Semi-finals: €2,400,000
    • Losing finalist: €4,500,000
    • Winners: €8,500,000

So on prize money alone, the income disparity between playoff round and group stages is huge!

Something to build for over the next couple of years hopefully

I think you just get the extra 20k or so. Wouldn't be fair if you come in at round 2 if it was cumulative, but I don't know for sure.

You get the payment for each round. As Crops said

1st round we get €220,000 Euros and if we beat the Faroes team we get another €240,000, and so on

The cumulative income for a good run could match or better anything we might get for SJM, minus St Mirren's cut. Interestingly, the last play-off game is on August 30th, 24 hours before the transfer window shuts.

The Tache will have got his calculator out already.

    Nah.

The prize money is based on what stage a team reaches, which is not the same as getting the published prize money each time a team played in a particular round.

Up to the league stages each team is paid an amount depending on what stage they reach. Out in prelim round €240k, out at play off stage €300k.

Then, if you get to the group stages there's a guaranteed minimum of €2.9m + prize money for winning/drawing group matches.

    Its cumulative!

That’s not how I read it, but if you say so😄
If that’s the case, not so lucrative winning round 1, if you were to go out in round 2

    https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2493323.html

What is more, clubs participating in the qualifying rounds will be entitled to a respective payment of €215,000 for the first qualifying round), €225,000 (second), €235,000 (third) and €245,000 (play-off). Note, however, that the play-off winners will not receive the solidarity payment from that specific round.

The amount you get depends on what round of qualifying team gets to not payable each round

That's huge money....I didn't appreciate there was so much involved...….then you've got the gate money as well. If we were fortunate enough to progress to the group stages our transfer budget would be huge and take us to another level

Sioux saying it’s not, but UEFA have put aside €107.5 million for the Qualifying stage, so something doesn’t add up if we only get €260,000 in total, if we go out in round 2

Fairness seldom comes into uefa thinking, just look at their approach to seedings, the stages at which scottish teams enter europe and how they treat scottish champions in comparison to the teams finishing third and fourth in England, Spain, Italy etc.

It’s game changing money for us if we can get to the group stages. It’s clear that the ambition of the club is to achieve this regularly. Let’s hope it’s starting this season.
Could do with a couple of signings this week though.

S then doesn’t make a massive difference whether we go out in the first qualifying round or the third.... but the difference between 3rd qualifying round and group stage is huge!

Every round is worth about £220,000 to us. It makes a massive difference.

It’s a confusing read.It seems ridiculous that a club will make more money entering at round one than round two. That surely cannot be right.

Makes getting players in as early as possible now evenmore important ....and the first round game is not a foregone conclusion evry team will burst a gut to progress as far as possible part timers or not ..we need to be ready to go ...in that the squad needs strengthened !!

The travel and accommodation costs will take a huge chunk out of any money received.

This article is much better. Actually says "per round played"

    Potentially quite lucrative then!

And to think there were actually people on here wanting a Motherwell win in the cup final a few weeks ago!

I’d be interested to see those sums you did earlier 👀

  24. #24
I've done them on this years amounts per round vs last years total prize money. Hadn't appreciated that the article someone posted earlier was a year out of date

Barring a disaster in the Faroes we are looking at €500k minimum.

Clubs playing in a round have expenses (travel, hotels, appearance fees, win bonuses etc). It's not so ridiculous when you look at it like that.

Yup and UEFA defines theses payments for the qualifying rounds as Solidarity Payments as opposed to prize money for this reason.
