7 games 3 wins 3 defeats and a draw, and things are looking up for them.
They probably believe in the tooth fairy too.

Glad Hazard got a goal there. Fantastic work rate, and player of the tournament for me.

Watch the media slowly turn against Southgate when the realisation hits that they have not actually had that good a tournament. It's coming home to roost.

They’re “6-7 years behind Belgium”. If they weren’t disadvantaged they would’ve won that game about 4-0.

i'm undecided whether to watch the reaction from the boys in the studio or watch the wimmins tennis final
tennis it is, i've just finished watching a wimmins team getting 4th spot at football

Feel sorry for Southgate. Comes across as a genuinely nice guy. They are going to destroy him.

Just realised this will be the last summer world cup for 8 years with 2022 being moved to winter.

England went into the World Cup rated 12th in the world. They reached the semi-final but didn't beat anyone rated higher, having lost twice to their only higher-rated opponents. They deserve praise for what they've achieved, but need to maintain perspective too.

They were mediocre against poor opponents
If they had won on Wednesday they would have been the worse team ever to reach a World Cup

That was after Pele was hacked out of the tournament and a West German referee sent off an Argentinian in the quarter-final against England while an English referee was sending off two Uruguayans against West Germany. Now I'm not a conspiracy theorists, but ...........

To attempt to summarise from a neutral, dispassionate perspective: England played 2 decent teams and lost to 3 of them (with thanks to my uncle for that one). One has a population less than a tenth of England's, the other roughly a quarter. England beat Tunisia, Panama, and Sweden, and drew with Colombia.
World domination surely beckons.

7 games and only 3 wins against Panama Tunisia and Sweden, Christ almighty, i think even Scotland might have beaten them.

Croatia have kicked the population argument in to to touch although the SFA will no doubt continue to use it to excuse our continuing failure.Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
He'll die before he's sold.

I'd love it if Scotland ever had such a poor tournament.

Of course, now the tournament is coming to an end with England's involvement over, it's time to focus on Scotland again. As you say, Croatia have blown apart the population myth (as the likes of Denmark have done previously) so any attempt by the SFA or Scotland managers to use that argument going forward will be rightly mocked.
