Put a wee tenner on James Rodriguez to get voted player of the tournament. I think Colombia will do quite well and he is a different player when playing for his country. Seems to be the main man and he relishes it. Thought 66/1 was value considering how well he did at the last World Cup.

I reckon there's money to be made betting against Argentina. The sum of the parts is greater than the whole. They scraped through qualifying, scored the least goals of the top 6 in the table and were destroyed by Spain in a recent friendly. They were well beaten by Nigeria not so long ago as well albeit without Messi. I'm shocked they are as short as 10s to win it.
There's often a big team that bombs at the World Cup and it could well be them this time round. I've stuck a fiver on them to lose all of their group games at 299/1.

    Here's hoping

No chance Russia are getting near the final. They are woeful. France by far the best squad but don't seem to hit the heights they should under Deschamps, Brazil good but winning in Russia is a huge ask. Germany out of form but expect that to change. Nobody talking much about Spain. Squad currently not as good as they had 8-10 years ago (which was exceptional) but still very good. Might be worth a few quid...

Spain are my bet but got a wee bit of a worry around their lack of a “first choice” striker. They don’t seem to like playing Costa but he’s prob their best option

Prior to my previous post..£40 on England.

I think with skybet it depends on how active your account is.but if it does happen,I can get out the place with £680 for a few days.

When they go out...I have £40 to use. :)

Got £20 on Spain at 6/1. For me the winners will come from Spain, Germany or France. Cant see a South American team winning it.

Drew Morocco in the works sweep. Nice one

I’ve went for Belgium, good squad coming of age but time will tell if they can do it on the big stage. I guess they if they won, would be one of the smallest nations in a longtime to win it. Also went for Argentina, if Messi comes alive.

In today's world of multimillionaire players travelling the world, there is no logical reason why a South American team can't win in Europe. I think Brazil have an excellent chance with that squad, and the 'South Americans can't win in Europe' thing is just a historical coincidence rather than a pattern that tells us anything.

I agree. We heard the same noise about a european side never winning the world cup in south america before the last world cup. If Neymar reaches the knockout phase even 90% fit i'd make Brazil favourites to win it.

My feelings exactly. If we (Wales) hadn't bombed them out of the euros I think they would have won it. Got to be worth a punt providing they can keep their bottle.

My opinion wasnt based geographically I just dont think any south american team will win it. Simply better teams in Europe. IMO.

    Cue a Brazil Uruguay final.

I’m on Belgium as well team has grown up together and if they click I think they have a chance at 11-1

I think Russia will do better than most think, can see them getting through the groups.

Golovin for them will be one of the breakout stars I think.

Also 10/1 with a well known oirish bookmaker to be booked for diving in the group stages, great value surely.

Split powder on that. I like those odds. Hope there's a diving crackdown. What odds Ashley Young for a dive? Just can't help himself. Although Danny Rose will probably get the nod.

Brazil hitting form at the right time, their attacking options are frightening. Justified favourites for me.

Agreed. Impressed with their friendly win against Austria. Didn't Austria trouble Germany recently?

    Interesting.

Anyone that likes a bet and thinks Spain will do well might fancy a couple quid on Marco Asensio to be top scorer. Most firms have him at 66/1 but some eejit on Betfair is offering 400/1.

I've got a few request a bet special's on with Skybet

Main bet is Brazil to win and Neymar to top score at 25/1. He's looking in great form

Russia -1 @2.30 for the opening game might not be a bad shout.

I've gone 1-0 Russia in my predictor. Have convinced myself it'll be a low-scoring opener (for no real logical reason ) and I don't think Russia are great shakes, home nation or not.

I CAN'T WAIT for it all to start now.

Brave shout. One shot on target in two lead up friendlies and lowest ranked team at World Cup also no win in seven.

Any one done straight forecast for 1st/2nd? I've got one on at 7500/1

I dont bet as a norm.
But i got Argentina in the Clerry Inn sweep
    £44 to the winner !

Am supporting Tunisia and fancy them to get at least a draw against the 1966 Cup Winners in their opening game.
They have did ok in their warm up games.
A draw with Portugal after being 2 down and a 1 nil loss to Spain
They could shock their group and get to the next stage.
    At England's expense,i hope!
