There's also Getafe but I don't know how they're doing these days.

Madrid would put me closer to Scotland, so Hibs, and Real.

I saw Atletico in rural North Wales in 1985, they visited Bangor City in the Cup winners Cup, footage on YouTube should someone by remotely interested, superb memories, the ground is now asda and think about that day every time I go there!

Same as Living in Manchester. Watch whoever is playing but support Hibs. If we're on tv I skip live games etc. When I can get home I come to Easter Road.
It's Hibs first last and always.
The bigger clubs are not better.

Real remind me of rangers in in a loose way - they were Gen. Francos team, the team of the establishment, enough said really.

People saying they'd still support hibs are missing the point a wee bit.
I think the OP is asking what Madrid team would you pick to follow if you had to pick one as well as supporting hibs.

Barca were the rebels in the civil war and Real represent Franco and the fascist regime.
There's still a whiff of that in the air round Real.

Decent atmosphere too for a sleepy Sunday afternoon game. A lot our clubs could learn about the fan experience outside the ground before matches.

If I was living in Madrid and Real were the only team in existence there I think I'd start following Spanish snooker or something instead. My level of loathe for them is pretty intense.

Rayo Vallecano for me. A smaller local team, more in line with my left-wing thinking.

Quite an interesting article on them above. Worth a read if you are bored.

Surprises me how many folk would go for the establishment club, given we like to paint Hearts in the same way.

Anyone picking Atletico over Real because of Real's links to Franco clearly knows nowt about the history of Atletico, their Ultras or their political leaning.

Probably Barca....
Real - establishment and financial cheating beyond der Hun.
Athletico: Could never forget their Champions Cup semi versus Celtic who they proceeded to kick off the park. Spanish football at its then most typical.

To all - it's Atletico.
This is getting worse than the Leeanne/Liane/Leigh-anne fiasco.

I think it was Basil Faulty, who once said, talking to Manuel, "don't you have rats in Barcelona? Or did Franco have them all shot"
I'm an Animal lover so it's Atletico for me!

Probably Getafe as their name is similar to my favourite Arab dictator's.
