I think we need another defensive type midfielder before we sign Allan, if we even need Allan?

A wide player and a forward too, with Mallan quite capable of providing the same type of play Allan did last season.

Obviously i'd like Allan back, but i think we need other places filled before we make Allan our first priority.
I think that is right we need a defensive minded centre mid who can control the tempo of the game someone of the Bitton mound who can cover for the more forward going midfielders.

Let’s say it all happened. Barker, Allan and Gash with a tash all got signed.

We then have Mallan rather than Dylan from last year.

    How will we have strengthened?

I’d say we’ve strengthened by having players who fit this club HAVE proved that they can do it for Hibs ( obviously the players here last season ) and have gelled already and fit together in the team rather well.

We have lost McGeough and that is a big loss however we have a dead ball specialist in Mallan which is a vast improvement on last year.

Finally feels like the wheels are moving on the transfer front. More speculation in the last 24 hours than most of the summer.

Last Thursday Boyle played up front and is clearly not the the answer there. With him playing there we were hampered in the striking area and also lost our pacy winger due to his switch. In my mind this makes at least one more striker THE number one priority and get Boyle back down the right wing.

Well if the team that played the second half of the season had been in place since August 17’ , we’d have comfortably finished 2nd going by the stats. I don’t believe Mallan is a level below McGeough, so comparing the team at the start of 17/18, and with the squad we potentially could have, we would be stronger.
Notwithstanding I've only seen him live once but I think he is in terms of ability to control the tempo and do the defensive side. He does add goals though, so hopefully it evens out.

Mallan is nothing like Dylan in playing style

Hibs are in talks with Huddersfield over a loan deal for striker Jordy Hiwula. Player seemigly keen on move but also has other offers to stay in England. Highly rated.

Teeeted by Hibs transfer news . Could be the premiership striker that was rumoured. Could be a pile of Hearts too though.

Sun saying Maclaren is going to Victory, but they're also claiming that Honda's move will cost £3m. That must be in wages as he's a free agent... or they're talking sh***.

True, if he's a replacement for any of last season's team, then probably Scott Allan is the closest?

The A league has a A$2.9m per squad salary cap so I’m thinking the Sun may have got this wrong?
That’s about £1.6m pound so they have less money than us.

Incredible as it may sound, Victory are reportedly paying Honda $1.3m and the FFA are picking up the other $1.6m. Imagine The Rangers signing Cristiano Ronaldo with the SPL agreeing to pay 60% of his salary. Not that there's any favouritism shown by the authorities towards any teams in the A-league of course

Wow, bet the other teams are pleased with that.

The official line that will come out, if anyone ever asks, will probably be "good for the league to have players of that quality", "raises the profile of the A-league, which benefits all of us" yada yada yada. In theory the fund to cover these payments is available to anyone, but Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC are by far the biggest clubs in the country and, therefore, the most attractive to quality imports, hence Del Piero playing for Sydney a couple of seasons ago.

Hiwula and Agyepong deals should be done by end of this week im told so hopefully movement there, Maclaren deal looks very likely, also hearing rumours (different source) Mcginn to Everton for the 3 mill we want with us getting Dowell on loan. Don't shoot the messenger

Brandon Barker also just updated his Instagram with him playing for us
He's also updated his Twitter profile picture with an image of him playing for us against Hearts. Please let this happen. What a coup this would be...

How confident are you with your sources mate?

Hiwula is a weird one, 24 this year and has never played for Huddersfield. Constantly goes out on loan so maybe needs to settle somewhere.

Dowell just had a very good season for Forrest so I’d be surprised if he came to us, also he is another attacking midfielder.

Everton would be a cracking move for John McGinn

In danger of throwing the thread off tangent but Mark Morrison is from Leicester not the USA, undoubtedly Shan though.

    Confident of the first source,

However few offers from League 1 teams to get him on perm however agent rather a loan and that's what hibs are offering. Guessing decent wage he's on .

Regards Mcginn, not as confident, nothing concrete in the offer. Not the only prem/ champ team that are interested. However only team offering decent loan player just like Celtic with SA but there not wanting to pay 3

Just spoke to a Terriers fan I know, Hiwula is a decent player but has never played for HTFC, says he is more of a winger than a striker, says his finishing is not up to EPL standard but he is fast and a good tricky player. Does well when he goes out on loan, played well for Fleetwood last season. He hasn't heard anything about this loan, but he does say he will be going back out on loan this season, he just doesn't know who to.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
