Depends on how long a period you define imminent as. Signings must be imminent as we will be making some.

Not that I'd accuse Scoopyboy of talking bollocks.

Looking back to my post I suppose it could be argued I hedged my bets, that wasn't my intention.

I didn't think we would sign anybody this week and it would be unusual for Hibs to announce a signing at the weekend.

I recall James McPake being announced on a Saturday but that was an exception.

Guess then I'm saying Monday at the earliest but it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't sign anyone for several days yet.

Hope I'm wrong as there's nothing more encouraging than new signings being announced.

Considering the absolute dross in England that go for quadruple i'd say 7 Million is a steal for Southampton

Cool. I was just being pedantic. It's nice to read your take on the situation though ;)

When you look at other players and valuations in Europe, that's an absolute bargain in my opinion - brilliant player who has the class and mentality to succeed. Good to see Scottish players getting a true value - sets a good benchmark for others (valuation-wise), for example like our own SJM. Plus he's an intelligent lad who has worked hard for any moves he's got - good pro for young players to aspire to be.

I messaged Mark Atkinson from EEN on Twitter earlier and he said nothing imminent as far as he's aware

That Maddison just went for 20 odd million. Got to question if he's much better than Armstrong really!

    Scary amount

Our very own (Or not now ) Dylan would walk right into a Norwich side who play football the right way and would thrive !

Only plays half a season though, always injured, so maybe a £14m player😄

Don't know about that. They just spent £10m on a player.

No amount of money should want us to sell him to Celtic

Yet people say we’re dreaming by suggesting we should get £3m at least for Mcginn.

I’m not saying we’ll get £7m for him but that signing could be good news for us as it sets a precedent for a Scottish international midfielder playing in our premier league.

Depends who we get in return and how else the rest of the money can be spent - I'm cynical and also think it's one of the reasons Stubbs went to St Mirren (in that he knows he's due some cash from us for his budget)

Armstrong only has 6 caps, so a fair comparison Bingo. Also had one year left on his deal
John is younger as well, so better value too

    Don’t see why not tbh.

Unfortunately being realistic they’re not a direct rival. If we’re getting most money from Celtic, that’d then be reinvested in the team, why would we not sell to them?

What if it was the extra £3/400k for them allowed us to get Kamberi?

You’ve got to take into account bigger clubs selling the same player would get more money, it’s a bit **** in this instance but we benefit from that too in that we’d get more for him than the likes of St Mirren would, you’ve also got to take into account he’s played in the champions league and won titles.

As I said though, Armstrong is now the marker and we work back from there when negotiating his value.

If McGinn going for a decent fee to Celtic is the trigger for getting two or three decent signings over the line I'll take that to be honest. He'll obviously be a big loss but we all know he's not going to be here long term anyway and we'll have a better chance in Europe if we can get the bulk of our signings sorted in the next two weeks.

This is the annoying thing about Scottish football. Is Armstrong a far superior footballer than he was at Dundee Utd? Maybe slightly but not enough to justify £7 million compared to his transfer fee from Dundee Utd.

SJM is a similar level with similar caps. Anything less than £4 million is a travesty.

Bigger teams attract bigger fees, that’s just the way of the footballing world.

We’ve benefited from that in the past as well.

I have said all along anything under £5m is a bargain. He is worth every bit of what Armstrong is worth.

Stubbs has already spent money on a player They paid the highest transfer fee for 25 years according to one Report so I thin you can take it as read that Stubbs will be banking on McGinn being sold this window

    Tested at a higher level.
Proves a lot more, reduces the risk. That's the difference
