    Congratulations to Ruth Davidson.

    You can.

Paternity leave is 2 weeks but there are all kinds of options available. It's called shared parental leave.

Please don't go bringing facts into it. Men are quite clearly shafted by women at work because not only do we earn more than them and get jobs easier than them, but they get longer off after a baby. (If the parents choose it that way )

You grow a baby in your belly for 40 weeks dealing with the sickness, pain and exhaustion while still working, pass it out your nether regions and then leak fluid from places you diidnt know possible for a few months while your hormones are raging and we can discuss paternity leave equality.

There aren't enough facepalms for this.

Anyway, congratulations to Ruth Davidson - is she the one who's actually preggers or is it her partner?

I wonder will dad play a part. Shame if they have decided the child doesn't need a father.

Scotland can be a beacon, within these islands and beyond, for a socially just and sustainable society. Whilst there are many priorities which will require independence, there is also much that can and must be done now by the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government.

Not a tory by any stretch of the imagination but happy for them and the era we now live in where it is not an issue for same sex partners to raise a child. The bairn will love their parents unconditionally as it should be. Just hope they are more politically astute 😎

I know where you're coming from (and agree) but to an extent any leading politician becoming pregnant while still in office would be reported at some level?

the premise you're coming from still holds true though... the fact it's been reported.... then kicked off longer discussions (e.g. on here) is down to their status, the sooner it's just simple reporting the better....

Who exactly is foaming? is it the same as the PC brigade? Just a liberal chap happy for the impending child. No agenda.
