    Next season: Midfield

Slivka is our next big thing. A wonderful athlete and technically proficient player. He is settled and ready to step out of the McGinn & McGeough shadows next season.
Swanson is also ready to step out of the M & M shadow next season. Hope he backs himself and doesn't move on in the summer. Needs a great pre season, working as never before
Bartley will do as Bartley does when required.
The young midfielders Murray and Martin will be another year older, stronger and experienced. Could be their make or break season.

Crawford if he arrives is of the right quality.
Scott Allen is not wanted by Celtic and unless they play silly buggers by trying to make him a pawn in any McGinn transfer, should be ours either on a season loan or permanently.

    That's 8 midfield players

    Other possibilities:
Ex St Mirren player Mallen from Barnsley. Hopefully not setting the heather on fire down there. Free kick scoring specialist which could be useful.

Any other midfield players folks think we may sign or could plug our McGinn & McGeough gaps.
Don't see Martin staying on and think Murray will get similar game time to Oli, or a decent loan. Even with that the list you've provided above, especially if Mallan is here, is a really good midfield.

Slivka I'm expecting big things from, he's impressed when he's got game time. Swanson has shown what he can provide in the last few appearances, if he continues in that vain he a real asset. Allan I really hope signs on, he's a wonderful talent and just seems to suit us. Crawford I don't know too much about but if anyone can get the best out of him it's Neil Lennon, just look how the players we've got now have progressed under his watch.

I know it seems unlikely but I still believe if we get Europe Dylan will stay on.

Sure he doesn't like hearts due to them releasing him when he was younger.
    This with spades!!!
If I remember rightly, the last player we had that was dumped by them when young turned out a right good one, can't remember his name tho'?????

Martin won't be here, favouring tweets about Celtic and then suddenly removing them will not go down well and it's only Arbroath he's been at, Championship level player.
Murray needs more game time so a 6 moth loan would be good for his development.
Bartley will be a year older and a year slower, I think the style of football Lennon wants with flowing attacking midfielders/strikers we'll see even less of him.

Couple of years ago this would have excited me, not so sure now.

Personally would rather Templeton from Hamilton if we were looking for at any of their players.

Anyone think Europe might persuade SJM stay another season. After all he might be annoyed by his penalty miss against brondby

Fwiw Martin should have played more first team football than he did in the Championship. The boy was a talent. I remember Lennon said pre Dundee Utd (Friday night game at ER) that he had played his way into his plans. We saw him probably once more after that. I trust Lennons judgement on most things. But not playing and letting go of Martin isn’t one of them.

The development fee issue has held that laddie back.
Not good enough for a team to pay it and too good for Falkirk to let him go.
Hope he gets a decent move.
You’re right. For once a player made the right decision about the timing of a move. He needed to be playing for a St Johnstone or something this season and cutting his teeth higher but as you say has stalled because of this.

I think there is a player in there still and at only 22 he’s got bags of experience already even in big games. I personally think if he fancied it and his wage was half decent enough it could he a low risk high reward signing.

I think he may even be a Hibee too.

You have got to assume there was a reason Neil wouldn't pick him maybe got injured or his form dipped or he let himself down with attitude don't know. Certainly midfield has been our strongest part of the team which wouldn't have helped either.

    This.

We cannot replace John McGinn with a ready made player of the same ability. We can replace him with another midfielder with the potential to grow to be as good as McGinn.

Same goes for Dylan and Scott.

So we might have a completely new midfield and Neil Lennon might have to reorganise how this midfield plays.

But we will have the same sound defence to build on.

Some excellent midfielders already at the club.

Hopefully at least one of our new strikers.

All in all the basis of a decent squad.

I think the recent recruitment shows that we can have faith in Hibs to get it right.
Agree with you its going to be a loss if we lose SJM and maybe a couple more but we have a good solid base and a good squad, adding one or two with the calibre of Crawford (if we can get him for free) will loosen up quite a bit of cash for players. It is a great position to be in, other teams should be very wary of a stronger Hibs next season.
