Remember it well as a 16 year old - a barmy finale, and absolute bedlam on the East terrace. Great times.

Looks like it was a class game. Lets hope for the same tomorrow.

The only time we’ve knocked celtic out the cup since yon 1902 that. Tells me we we’re due to knock them out again soon.Hopefully in another final.

Jings - I would have been 23 ! Mental game it was. Never a penalty for them. Big Colin supplied the cross IIRC and he came on as a sub. I did not think that the celebration of a goal at ER could be beaten that same year but cue Sir Albert and the 2 goals against Der Hun on the 1st game of the season. Mind you when Souness went off the celebration was just like a goal. Happy days.

Within days of that game I went out and got the photo - that is your avatar - from the Evening News - still got it and it's suitably well framed - take it you did the same?

In those pre Hibs TV days I used to follow results on BBC World Service which interchanged live commentary on an English game and a Scottish one which just shows how importance of Scottish football has fallen in last 30 odd years . On that particular day there must have been an especially important English match or some other event ( Grand National ? ) which meant our match wasn`t covered live but they did a fake live commentary with late goals which was absolutely brilliant with " then this happened " several times with last 3 goals . Something very similar at Dens Park a few weeks later with commentary delayed but still exciting in pre internet days . Incidentally the presenter of BBC World Service Sport back then Paddy Feeney sounded very posh English but was born in the north of Ireland and he and his family had a soft spot for Hibs which he explained to me some years later in a personal letter when I complained about lack of live commentary at 1991 League Cup final .

The scenes in the East when we scored to make it 4 -3 were tremendous, bodies, legs and arms flying everywhere. Thought the league cup game was good but this took it to a new level, we dared to dream that this was the year we would win the cup again, alas another heartache awaited us.
