I’m told that he is so pleased at being player of the year he has agreed to sign for less than he was previously offered.

Unfortunately I think we’ll see Dylan in a maroon strip next year, performing with tremendous aplomb against us in Edinburgh derbies. Like the rest of us, I think he has had his head turned by the class, poise, elegance, dignity and radiant beauty of a woman we’ve all been taken by since her spectacular emergence onto the main stage of Scottish football. Ladies and gentlemen, our loss is the gain of one truly magnificent woman, and I give you the Queen of Hearts.
Maybe they can finance it by selling lots of Lego busses?

Nah. It doesn’t. It means we have held a meeting with his representative and outlined the offer....

It is good practice to follow this up by putting it in an email or letter to formalise the offer , but that often doesn’t happen either ...

Contracts aren’t written up until they are agreed...

Hmm... I would categorise an email or letter as ‘something in writing’!

Obviously the formal contract would be a longer document, but would be based on the offer letter.

I'd guess he'll be looking for a bumper signing on fee that he'd be able to pick up from joining another club in place of a transfer fee.

Every time we are in this position with a player nearing the end of his contract we get various rumours. Hibs will know by now if he's likely to stay and will offer as much as they can. To suggest that he would get less than Whittaker after the season he's had is laughable. Only Dylan himself knows if he wants to go to pastures new. I don't think what we offer him will make much difference. Either he wants to stay where he is a top player or challenges himself to get into a team plus of course gets a huge salary increase. Its a big decision for him and I doubt how much we offer will make the difference. Just have to wait and see but my gut feeling is he will be away.

No one knows exactly what a certain player is paid or what they have been offered, unless the player in question has told you personally.

Always amazes me that so many people have all this inside knowledge as to players wages, since when did these wages become open for everyone to know? so much crap spouted on here at times.

Were you not claiming the other day that you had knowledge of Dylan being offered £5k pw?

I was told he's been offered £5K pw, don't know if that's a straight £5K or made up of add ons but that'll make him one of the best paid at the club if true.

I had no details as to the actual amounts, only it wasn't anywhere near the figures being quoted, his father gave nothing away on that or even how much Jason was being paid, the only thing I knew for certain before anyone else was that he would be away due to a clause in his contract.

Er not claiming any such thing, passing on a rumour like many do on here, rumour as you well know are mostly nonsense but occasionally have a wee bit truth in them.

Read a while back that under freedom of information you can find out a person’s wages through tax paid to the tax man. Not sure how true this is but I remember the story was about people in company jobs looking up their work colleges wages so they knew how much roughly to ask for a wage rise.

Now if this is true, surely if you look up a players tax you can work out their wage.

Pretty sure that's not true. The Taxpayers Charter would prevent it.

Just trolled through google after google and found the article it’s about People in Norway that you can look up their tax. So if I’d done me homework first I wouldn’t have even posted the drivel I did.

    Naughty boy me.

If Steven McLean can get a two year deal at Hearts at his age , with his knees, and recent scoring record, I reckon D.McG is perfectly entitled to sit tight and see what offers come to the table.

To take time out of one's day to do such a thing would make me a very sad sad little man
