If he decides after only one season of playing the majority of games to move on then so be it. We've lost far better players than Dylan McGeouch in the past and survived. I trust NL to find a suitable replacement. Finding replacements for Scott Allan or SJM will be much harder. I'm resigned to SJM going, so I'd rather we push the boat out to get Allan signed up.

    There's only one, Dylan McGeouch
    There's only one, Dylan McGeouch
    Give him the ball
    He'll make a goal
    Walking in a Dylan wonderland.

Hope he stays, doubt he will due to various factors but if he moves on then good luck to anothrr living Hibernian legend.

He's a professional though, so we will still get quality performances until the end of the season.

A story to try and upset the team that’s 3 points behind The Rangers.

Rise above this crap folks. Stay supporting Dylan and all our players, we could give the team the edge on getting to 2nd.

If Dylan leaves at the end of the season then we thank him for his service and move on.

Would love Dylan to stay, who wouldn't?
They guy has given us 4 years service, some wonderful performances and if course was part of one of the major chapters in our clubs history.
Yes he's been injured for a fair proportion of his time with us but that's just been his and our bad luck. I can't see the boy playing on into his mid to late 30's due to his history and he has a future and a family to consider.
We would all be of the same mind, don't kid ourselves on here.

Blackburn could be a good fit for him if they go up this season. Mowbray has his sides play football and will guarantee he gets a chance and some decent game time to adapt to the Championship. Also club captain, Charlie Mulgrew will be a welcome and friendly face to Dylan. Much better option than running out at Easter Road with an Aberdeen or Hearts top on.

Did Lennon not tell him in the summer that he was free to go because of his injuries? That wouldn’t sit well with me if I was him either.
He would have left in that case.

You mentioned you had heard something re mcgeouch. What chance to do think we have of keeping him?
I think we’ve a very good chance to be honest. Nothing has changed from what I last heard.

    Another hibs.net myth.

Lennon challenged Dylan to put his fitness issues behind him and kick on this season. He knew of Dylan's talent but was concerned that he couldn't count on him to be fit for the majority of the season.

I think we worry about this in 5 weeks time. In the meantime we have European qualification to secure.

Actually wasn’t a myth. Dylan had shown nothing to Lennon that he’d be able to play after constant injuries and Lennon gave him the opportunity to find another club if he thought he can’t be fit for us most weeks. Thankfully he stayed and Hibs helped him physically and mentally get to where he is now.

I completely agree, Dylan's primary responsibility is to himself & his family. However I wouldn't rule us out completely. We've made him a good offer & there's a lot of plusses in not having to uproot your home. My biggest concern is Celtc coming back in for him. They remain a cheapskate club in European terms & the prospect of picking up a 25 year old potential international player for free will have Lawwell salivating.

That's very short sighted. As a business, we can't just look at what's directly in front of us.

He had injuries and we knew that when taking him on. Suggestions that he was only not injured this year in the persuit of a new contract wouldn't leave me all that happy either.

That's the bit that I'm calling out as Hibs wrong doing. I think we waited to long, and perhaps have now missed our chance.

Inconvenient FACT alert: we’ve offered him two contracts already, fair to assume the more recent one was on improved terms.

Source: direct quotes from our manager and others at the club.

Dylan is entitled to wait til the end of the season to assess his options, but Hibs are certainly trying to extend his stay.

Wot? The Daily Ranger stirring the pot? Shirley no!

Anyway back to that Dylan song- what can we get to rhyme with McGeoch?

A lot of nuances attached to that conversation.

Part of me thinks it gets filed under the label "things insiders know about players that fans never really find out about'.

Lennon thinks that Dylan's woes are part psychological and tells him to shape up or beat it. Dylan approaching final year of contract shapes up and has a largely injury free season. This is helped by access to specialist treatment for a chronic injury and expert advice which is intergrated into his training schedule.

Meanwhile as the season runs down Dylan is offered a new and improved deal which would make him one of the best paid players at Hibs. Dylan declines to sign wishing to weigh up his options. This is a high risk strategy for a man plauged by injury in his career. If the injury recurs then he finds Hibs offer withdrawn and suddenly the future isn't quite as rosy.

Hibs will have a pretty strong indication as to Dylan's intentions and I'm certain we will already be looking at replacements. I want him to stay, but I also trust that the club will be able to replace him suitably. This summer will see changes in the Hibs midfield. It's fair to say McGinn will be gone and likely that Dylan will be too. We will have one of our biggest ever budgets and contingency will be well advanced. Most of our key players are already signed up long term, but we need a strike force and central mid. I trust the management team will get it right and we will kick on from where we are now.

A lot of previous posts summarised and put in a nutshell.
We still don't know if he's signing though.

Haha that’s exactly it, they love throwing negative stuff like that at us. More so when their precious The Rangers could lose out on 2nd!!

I think if we get Europe, then he MIGHT stay, if not then he will leave.

What kind of player is young Fraser Murray? Could we see more of him next year?

I don't see how any of that, if true, means we didn't wait too long.

Any truth in the rumour that we fixed the results of the player of the year award to make up for the lack of songs about Dylan as a sweetener for him to stay?
    Mon the Hibs.

I’m told that he is so pleased at being player of the year he has agreed to sign for less than he was previously offered.

    Really?

“We’ve offered him a new contract” normally means a written contract!

Nah. It doesn’t. It means we have held a meeting with his representative and outlined the offer....

It is good practice to follow this up by putting it in an email or letter to formalise the offer , but that often doesn’t happen either ...

Contracts aren’t written up until they are agreed...

So we offered him a contract then?

I don't think anyone really knows about letters or e-mails, but we meet with player/ rep and offered him a new deal, no doubt outlinng the terms and conditions.
