They obviously never watched the Leeds v Chelsea FA Cup final in the late sixties or early seventies. That had 'Chopper' Harris and Norman 'Bites your legs' Hunter. Come to think about it most of the Leeds team could dish it out as could all of the Chelsea team.

Two things stand out for me: 1 Dirty Chilean *******s and 2 What an excellent piece of writing from Jimmy Hill in his original article.

Was listening to a podcast about Lazio Ipswich Uefa cup 1973 (what was it about the early 70s? Violence at its high point maybes) which sounded like total mayhem on the pitch. The 70s in Italy there was a lot of political violence, quite a few Lazio players at the time routinely carried guns about with them and had far right sympathies.

His whole post playing career, in every context, he's like an unerring weather vane of wrong.

I went to see Hull City play Lazio in the Anglo Italian Cup in about the same period , and I can remember Hull's centre forward , Stuart Pearson ( later of Man Utd fame ) , having a running battle with their back four - the most evil one , being a strange bloke by the name of Guiseppe Wilson ( of Welsh Italian extraction ) !
    !

Haha they were talking about that exact guy! Grew up in Swansea. Total hatchet man but a Lazio legend.

You're joking right? Italy were a disgrace.
