What a shame. Bit of a game changer when it came to making dance music crossover into the mainstream.
RIP

Produced some fantastic music, a shame to lose someone so talented. A few people calling him a pioneer but I don't really buy into that, dance music has been around for a long time now and there has been many popular artists from the genre before he came along, he did help it regain some popularity.
Robert Miles died last year and he had some amazing music as well.

Without meaning to sound callous, celebrity deaths don’t usually have any effect on me, but this one has hit me. Got so much nostalgia tied into his music.
Such a shame. RIP.

Those who saw his T performance in 2015 said it was the stuff of legend.

Very shocked to hear this news earlier tonight.
He was only 28 as well, very sad indeed.

Dreadful music (and I like house and dance) but appreciate that we was at the forefront of what he did.
His song Levels was the Hearts anthem for the 2012 Scottish Cup Final because they have none of their own.
A tragedy none the less and RIP.

Not wanting to sound disrespectful, but I thought he was a fashion designer or something like that.
Don't do much disco-ing or the likes these days. Afraid I've been out-the-loop for a loooooong time.

I had no idea who he was, my son just played me a few of his songs and I realised I knew them all as always on the radio in car.

I hope that one day people will differentiate between Avicii/Edm and "dance" music such as house, techno and all the 100 variety of sub genres that exist.
None the less, it's tragic and there are periods of my life where I feel that his tunes were the soundtrack.
**** news.

I get what you're saying but it's like Neymar dying and folk brushing it off as "who?"
Not that it really matters who you are or how successful you are, person dying at 28 is sad news.

I thought I had a reasonably good understanding what popular culture the generations after mine was all about but obviously I was wrong, I guess we don't know what we don't know and Aviccii is apparently one of those defining moments that's made me realise I've turned into my dad. Guess it happens to everyone.
