What's the most points we've finished ahead of Hearts?

I note that we finished 14 points ahead under McLeish in 200/01 and 11 points ahead in Mowbray's first season but I imagine there must have been some distance between the teams in the 70s ( although with only two points for a win back then it probably wasn't as much as it might have been)?

Something similar for the next decade would just about do. Adjusted for 3 points a win, Naturally.

I remember a 1-4 defeat in Sept 1973 but I cannot remember any more during the 70's

That was the only one in 24 derbies during that time, and only the second defeat in 31

What’s the longest spell undefeated we have had over them?

Counting league games only we have had a few good spells.
The last one of which, were the 30 league games between 1965 and 1978 when we lost only 3.

    To answer my own question...

Between 1969 - 1979 we went 9 games unbeaten (last being the 7:0 game) lost the next derby then went another 13 unbeaten. So one defeat in 23 games with 13 undefeated is our best post war run at least.

Unfortunately when we had our spell of dominance there were only 2 games a season, whereas when they had theirs it was 4 per season. That’s one reason why the numbers they have been spouting are skewed.

Not bad that is it.., to listen to the jambos you’d think we never strung more than 2 together without losing
