Not in Midlothian. My wife is a teacher there and been told not to go in.
It’s midlothian I’m talking about mate. Policy states staff should be in or go to nearest school. If not it’s unpaid. HTs don’t run their own budget it’s the Council HO and they’re in the middle of loads of cuts just now so I’d think it unlikely they’d pay wages when they don’t have to.

Roads here are terrible. I live on Burdiehouse Road and from window the roads look dangerous. Will be doing my 10 min drive to work shortly which I am not looking forward to.

I just passed ER about 15 minutes ago and the streets around the ground are ok at the minute. There's sbow lying but it's not really deep. Driving on St Clair Street was admittedly a bit tricky. There was 2 Policemen in conversation with a guy in a Hibs tracksuit behind the FF so maybe a decision is imminent?
If the game goes ahead they need to grit the pavements and roads before and during the game so when we come out it’s safe to walk and not an ice rink like the last cold Wednesday Match

Looking at forecast sites, doesn't look as bad as yesterday seemed to be saying. Game might be on I think.

Theres not much on the ground in Dunfermline to suggest Armageddon. I guess it must be arriving before lunchtime.

Was that the Rangers game? There was a game recently when it was like walking on an ice rink.

As per usual media over react, there has been some snow but all this “Beast from the east” crap is laughable. I’ve seen Edinburgh hit by far worse so I really don’t know what the panic was about. Then again the met office can’t seem to actually predict the weather best just looking out the window.

This is why the schools are being closed etc, it’s cheaper to close schools than run an efficient weather recovery service. Disgraceful.
    It's currently -4, with windchill -12.

Roads and pavements can be salted, but may not make any difference as the salt is less effective at those temperatures.

I’m assuming the snow is to get a lot worse.

Media have overhyped this imo, most streets in city are fine and snow is powdery.
Try telling people currently stuck on motorways that...

Wasn’t it meant to get worse through the night? Then again at 6 in the morning? It’s now sunny!!

My walk to work was a bit snowy underfoot but with hat, scarf, and gloves on it wasn't even cold. Cars were going slow down hills but everything else seemed to be business as usual.

Think the morning weather could go a long way to dictating if the game goes ahead or not.

Sheep from the East. No snow in West Argyll, although you can see the clouds over Kilfinan and Arran.

The weather in Falkirk was very bad overnight. Not snowing at the moment but several inches are lying on the ground.

If the game's on tonight, I won't be there. Fingers crossed it's off.

EmbraTrams on but air con blasting cold air - nightmare. Intermittent fault hey never seem to bother fixing.
Manc trams are the same. I don't complain. I'm just happy a) when they turn up b) I can actually fit onto them c) I don't need to be near some scrote blasting crap music or shouting into their phone.

Mind walking to school at King's Park Primary from Eskbank in deep snow. When school loused there were about 150 bairns in the park pelting every vehicle that went by with snow balls until someone chased us. Great fun!

Later on when I worked in Edinburgh, I mind seeing a guy skiing down Bruntsfield to Tolcross.

Met office app says heavy snow from 1pm until 8pm tonight, if that’s the case the game will be off

Was that conversation not in relation to the ‘ongoing investigation’ about the pitch invasion of May 2016?

It’s unreal eh, you’d think when they built it it would be 3 lanes. Just can’t cope with the volume of traffic and if there is a breakdown or crash game over!!

That is only if schools are attempting to stay open. They are all closed today for both staff and students. Teachers are expected to work from home and will be paid as normal. There would be a closed door waiting for them if they did appear at their local school today.

I know how school budgets work thanks very much, I used to work in local authority education finance and HTs do by and large run their own budgets with some exceptions, it’s called Devolved School Management.

Anyway, that’s not really the issue. All the staff at my wife’s school were shown a Midlothian policy yesterday that said if the schools were all closed the staff should not report for work. The HT has emailed them all this morning reminding them of the Midlothian policy that they should not report for work and she is going in to turn away any pupils or staff that do show up.

I don’t mind if it’s off - dodgy weather could help Hamilton and its an important 3 points so let’s wait and see.

Saying that I will be going if it’s on - just need several layers !

I've just been out for 15 minutes and it's as cold as I can remember. There's no danger I'm sitting out in that for 2 hours tonight.
