well enough yes. but hardly the second coming of Sir Alex some go on like.

let's see how he fairs in the next few years, now it's not just a 2 team league.

who knows, he might even beat rangers eventually?

Did they not beat Rangers at Ibrox for the first time in 25+ years errrrr, just last season??

Almost fair enough. I agree that he's not the second coming and the media do tend towards a wee bit of an excessive love in with McInnes.

He did finish second last season and that was my point, in response to another poster saying there wasn't much evidence of good work.

The Sheep had a run of ten consecutive wins and some good European results in his tenure. They may well still finish second this year too.

Anyone see the footage on twitter of the Celtic fans standing on the sheds that the disabled fans use at Pittodrie. Police and stewards just standing watching them letting them bounce on the roof, unreal!
Careful now, you're not allowed to criticise Celtic fans behaviour on here.

duno, maybe. his record is still honking against them though.

He can come back when he's won there twice in the same season. Like Lennon

in all seriousness. he's been decent for them. I just don't think he's all that. his record v the OF is crap and it has been a 2 horse race for most of his time there. all he's won in that time is a league cup, and lost another final. in the same time we've won the Scottish and lost the league cup final.

a few 2nd places is decent but they were the only team in it most of the time. as I said, let's see how it goes this year and the next few.

Aberdeen fans don't think he's the best ever.

I think a League Cup win, three consecutive second places and a losing Scottish Cup final says he's done not too badly.

Record v Huns and Celtic isn't too good though.
Pat Fenlon lost two Scottish Cup finals.
Second place finishes with little competition, two seasons minus Rangers hardly shouts medals.
A single league cup win ranks him alongside Ally McLeod in the Aberdeen hall of fame and behind Alex Smith.

    I agree
And when Aberdeen’s challengers, Hibs, Hearts and Rangers, were in the championship, and in a bit of a mess

They were consistently second for a few years.

This is a bit of a transitional season for them - Hayes was a massive player for them and they've had to change their team around.

Next season they'll be without McLean, will probably not have Christie back.

They're in the hunt for second again though - and with a fair bit more competition. Rangers are better than they've been, we're back up there, Hearts are doing their "difficult to beat" thing, Killie have come onto a game.

It's hardly disastrous stuff for them.

TBH they really impressed me in our first 2 games against them. They were, er, streetwise against us in getting their win at ER and they beat us comprehensively at Pittodrie. We pumped them the other week though.

I'm not writing them off yet.

Are there really? I haven't ever noticed that.

I know some folk dislike Celtic less than the Huns, but I don't think anyone sticks up for them.

Having said that, I was wrong once before, so ...

Sectarian or not, surely it's not difficult to understand why it would be considered offensive.
It's very difficult to understand. Would calling a member of the Orange Order 'Orange' be offensive?

For what it's worth, my opinion is they've gone backwards since last season,as have Celtic, while sevco somehow look to be more cohesive since Jan.

Celtic and the Dons should both be further ahead than they are, and it'll be a travesty if sevco manage to finish 2nd and strengthen properly on the back of European cash. That'll be the end of this wee spell when a good tilt at the SC was possible for all non-firm teams.

It will be offensive to a member of the Orange Order if you add the word "*******" at the end.

In the same way that calling a racist a "racist *******" is offensive to a racist.

It's not offensive to ordinary, decent members of society. Nor is it intended to be.

Tbf though, the huns have strengthened well in January and I think they'll be well ahead in 2nd come the end of the season, unfortunately. But with the amount of wages they're probably paying alongside the money they've spent on players last summer, probably shouldn't be much of a surprise. Money talks.

Your point is that McInnes hasn't done anything to merit being called 'Orange'?

I would say that, barring the actual Orange Order, Rangers Football Club (past and present) is one of the most orange organisations on the plant.

It was just last week that some on here called me out for suggesting that not only Rangers have a bigoted following but Celtic too. They're a small minority but there are some on here who feel that Celtic are kindred brethren and above criticism, I feel no shame in showing them the error of their ways.
