    Eating out in Glasgow

We are heading down to Glasgow Hydro on Saturday for the Stereophonics gig and we are looking for any recommendations for somewhere to eat prior to the gig. We like Indian, Chinese, Italian, Greek and are happy to go to any of these but equally we are willing to try something a bit different. Only stipulation is that it shouldn't be too far from the Hydro. Any recommendations?

Dockyards Social Street food market in Kelvin Haugh 15 minutes from the hydro.

    http://dockyardsocial.com/

All food is £5 and there is a bar and live music
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

2fat ladies at the Buttery. 5 min walk from Hydro. Anderston cross

Six By Nico in Finnieston. 6 course tasting menu for £25. Food is always excellent and it's 10-15 minutes walk from the Hydro.

He's opening in Edinburgh soon and I can't wait.

If you can get a table (could be tricky if you are looking for around 6.30pm ish) go to the La Lanterna on Hope Street (0141 221 9160 ) - you will not be disappointed - I can promise you that - it has consistently been the best in the city for many years ! Take the train from the low line at Glasgow Central (the escalator down to the low line is right across the road rom the restaurant) to Finnieston (next stop) and you will be right a the concert venue ! Enjoy -I will be jealous !

Chaakoo Bombay Cafe is a great little place - it's an Indian restaurant done in a tapas style - it's owned by the same folk that run Topolabamba, and the food is top notch and not too expensive. Located on St Vincent Street, just around from Central (so about a 25 minute walk to the Hydro).

Ox and Finch in Finnestoun is really nice, as is Rioja (they do some really great Spanish food!). Both of them are about a 15 minute walk down to the Hydro. If you fancy a really nice steak, the Butchershop Bar and Grille (up near Kelvingrove museum) do some phenomenal steaks, but it is a bit pricier than your average restaurant dinner.

Yen in the rotunda next to the the Hydro, lovely chinese and they have great 'pre-theatre' menus.

    https://glasgowrotunda.com/yen/

It literally is a 1 minute walk from there to the Hydro so you can enjoy your food and drinks without worrying when to leave.

The Alston bar and beef restaurant is very good. We've been twice. The other half had monkfish and I had the steak both times. Its just inside Central Station and easy for a quick exit with the taxi stands just outside. Its cool and trendy with it being down out as if you're sitting inside a subway tunnel and the prices aren't too steep either.

This is a relatively new Indian Curry tapas place at the bottom of Byres Road - 20 mins walk to concert venue heard that I good !

The La Mora is another good option and it is much closer to concert venue - Ben Nevis pub on opposite side of road is good for a pre concert refreshment as well !

The nearer you are to the Hydro the more difficult it will be to get in before a gig that is why we went to Dockyards, tried to get into a few places all near the Kelvingrove museum and all were booked out.

Rioja in Finnieston Spanish Tapas is my favourite haunt Great Sangria
Ad Lib just outside central station to the left is handy for Fajitas
Loads of Restraunts on the Finnieston Strip as they call it and its a short walk from there to venue

Not too many Indian's mentioned, so a great little Indian tapas place I love next to Kelvingrove is Mother India's Cafe:

    http://www.motherindia.co.uk/index.p...e-glasgow-menu

There are also a few quality little bars en route back to the hydro (18 min walk), including Lebowski's

    Ox and finch. Superb

For good food in a more traditional environment I’d recommend kelvingrove Cafe. Stravaigin owned by same people who have ubiquitous chip is one of my favourite bar and food places in the west end. Also recommended
