Not sure if this has been posted already, but looks like there will be no New Years derby for next season..

I would imagine the Derby will be played in between Christmas and New Year.

Och bollox, I'm going to miss the first 3 weekends. I was hoping it would start a week later.

The traditional new year derbies are the biggest and most famous games in the Scottish football calendar - for the sake of 24 or 48 hours why on earth start the 'winter break' at the end of December? It's ludicrous.

We must be due a home xmas new year derby. Yams do seem to get a disproportionate amount of these.

Speaking of next season, when do the early bird tickets go on sale? Is it about mid-march?

How do we miss the group stages of the league cup?

    Is it finish top 6?

Keen to avoid these as -

    A) we get a bye.
    B) get some decent friendlies.

Just looked up this season. It’s Europe that gets you out of it. Presumably we’d be playing European qualifiers.

European entrants Celtic, Aberdeen, Rangers and St Johnstone will join the eight group winners and the four best runners-up in the last 16 on August 8/9.

    Qualify for Europe.

I like the LC group stages, enjoy having something to play for.

Would rather be in Europe and have a bye into the first round proper though.

Weekend of 18th August is for League Cup , our first match in the competition if we qualify for Europe .

Our Europa league campaign would begin on July 12th, and try seriously wonder why our clubs struggle badly at that stage. 4 weeks before we would have kicked a competitive ball.

Would we not be the last week in June as the lowest placed qualifier (presuming we qualify via 4th and 1st/2nd/3rd winning cup?

Must be international break weekend, can’t see them having the Betfref cup games on then, if it wasn’t

It's because the european dates have changed so there isn't a spare midweek in August to play it

Is there an international weekend break in August, or is it a midweek break?

No, scotland don’t need to play in the prelims. All three qualifiers will enter into 1st qualifying round however.

They cup winners enter at the 2nd round. The only way we could enter at the 2nd round, is if we finish 2nd, and the League winners win the Scottish Cup

Scottish Cup winners (or 2nd placed in the league if a top 3 side wins the cup) get entry at the Second Qualifying Round, I'm pretty sure.

The New Year Derby was one, or maybe, the biggest highlight of the Xmas/ new year holidays
