I wonder if he might well be finished at ER with this injury.
I wouldn’t have thought so, should be back for the post split games, at worst hopefully

Depends where he's doing his rehab. I imagine he'll be back down South while he's unable to train so if City think he has a future with them or want to sell him on they'll look after him. If they let him come back to Hibs to get back to fitness it will be a good sign for us.

He has a loan contract with Hibs till the end of the season, I wouldn't think Man City were allowed to just keep him once he regains fitness, he's our loan player till the last game unless Hibs allow him to go back early that is.

Just watched Lennon's Hibs TV interview from today and he said Barker's injury isn't as bad as they thought and they're hoping to have him back within 3 weeks - good news.

Back in with a shout of playing in the derby then? That'd be great news, even if he was an option from the bench.

I really rate Barker and like you say this is a huge bonus he could be fit for the derby.

Just watched it again and Lennon makes reference to Barker being a long term injury before going on to say hopefully he'll be back within 3 weeks. If that's the case then it's a bit strange to class it as long term. Maybe he's meaning it was originally thought of as long term or maybe I'm just misunderstanding him.

Anyway, I imagine he means Barker will hopefully be back training within 3 weeks as opposed to being ready to start. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/hDaMHGyjhEk

    It's at about 2 mins 50.

Suspect the derby might be too soon for him to start but even a place in the bench would be a massive boost. Regardless for him to be back in a few weeks is great news.

NL also confirming Daz and Hanlon back training so let’s hope available for Saturday.

I hope I'm wrong but i don't think we will see Daz and Paul this weekend. As much as we want them in they would have lost some sharpness and would be a gamble ti play them.

Social media (rightly) gets a lot of stick but it's nice to getting these wee updates from players rather than relying on the club issuing a statement or hoping a journo directs a question to the manager

It would be great if he does make it - obviously I'm worried about the physical attacks by 'Potter's P***ks' on our players, but it hasn't put me off from sitting here positively salivating at the thought of what Barker, SJM, SA, Boyler and McGeouch will do to them ................................

If he is back in the pitch with his boots on then he is arguably week to 10 day away. Timely for the derby. I think he is a fantastic player.

If he's fit for the Derby there is no guarantee he will start. Who's dropping out the midfield to make way for him?

Nobody. One of the strikers, probably Maclaren.

He’s good to have even on th bench if fit. Bring him on last 20 to run at them. I feel we will be at least 2-0 up by 70th min.

Its just the nature of the injury. Hard to know how long you'll be out. Theres no practical difference between a strain or a tear, if youre lucky its 3 weeks, unlucky its 8 weeks or longer. Michael Owen was never the same after tearing his.

Don’t see that happening. A lot could happen in the next couple of games but dropping McLaren for him would mean changing shape as well. If we’re still playing well I don’t think we’ll do all that to accommodate Barker.

Can't think maclaren will drop out, we've looked so much better up top with two out & out strikers

Great news as he is a serious asset to the team and squad. Hopefully able to take some part in the derby probably from the bench though we do need to be careful about rushing him back.

The 3-5-2 has looked very good and seems to suit our players, particularly Efe who looked a lot more comfortable in the last game. If Lennon sticks with this system I can't see room for Barker or even Swanson at the moment, unless used as subs to play just behind the strikers 3-4-1-2.

You're probably right but the question was who drops out (As in who would we take out In that case) and if it's going to be anyone it'd most definitely be Maclaren.
