    Best tv theme tune

We all love all these great shows, but which one has the best theme tune? I’m going to kick things off with the leftovers

Has to be The X Files - it's absolutely iconic!
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

I was thinking bit more leftfied than that. Sometimes the show is terrible, but the theme tune is great. My example above is both a great show and a great theme tune. A bit like the A Team

Leftovers has a great theme tune.

Teachers had a great one as well, as did Boardwalk Empire.

Always liked the Dexter and Band of Brothers theme tunes. The X-Files one is a good shout too.

Agree with danhibees, the Cheers theme song is right up there.
For the oldies, I'll go with Bonanza.

The winner, the most naturally intuitive piece of music I can think of. Even if you've never heard it before, once you've heard a few bars you know what's coming next.

Quite old now but ‘To The Unknown Man’, by Vangelis used by BBC for it’s ‘Snooker’ theme tune many moons ago. I mentioned this one on the other thread about the most beautiful tracks.
