I'd agree with Van der Valk & Cheers.
Honourable mention for Hill Street Blues though.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I used to love the theme from the south bank show, but then I’d turn it off because the show was ****.

The holy triumvirate of Minder, The Sweeney and The Professionals: all instantly recognisable and equally iconic.
(And no, I’ve no just plucked a section from the current ITV4 listings...)

Tinker Tailor had a good theme. Atmospheric.
I liked the Cheers song. It was a great show back in the day.

Benny Hill, (Yackety Sax) can't remember if it was the theme tune or not but always played the show out at the end.
