From March the new registration will come out and there will be the possibility of over 17,000 new plates with H18S in them. Will anyone else be looking to take advantage of this.

Went on sale in November. I have EH18 SFC.
You can buy the plates prior to the new cars being on sale.

The 18 plates were available form the DVLA but only up until December. They seem to have gone now.
I looked at _H18 EES plates and most were £399. If I recall correctly OH18 EES was £799 along with a couple of others.
I liked XH18 EES and got it for £399.
All I need now is a new car as you can't attach it to any car registered before March 2018.

I've still got my number plate from Munich, MCN-1875 (specially requested plates were only an extra 30 euros), but I now have to re-register in the UK.
I don't fancy paying silly money for a British Plate, though.

What got me to put mine (X3 HFC) on retention was the prick who tried to run me off the road just outside the Gyle (morning off the hibs vs hearts SC tie). That was it for me. He actually clipped my passenger side wing (£200 damage) driving at speed up to my car, and despite going to the police, there was nothing they could do (No CCTV). (he'd shot off up the inside lane before I had a chance to go after him as I was so shocked).

However, your other incident is well beyond the pale and not something I considered happening.
Was more concerned about a message scratched into the paint etc.

I’ve got H18 SBH on retention just now. Had it over 20 years on various cars.
Bought my mid life crisis/retirement dream car a few months ago - Jaguar 3.0 D XFS Portfolio.
Relatively rare but I wanted it!!
Only problem was the colour. Claret red. Some look at it as being “maroon”. It’s dark red/light burgundy at worst. So decided to keep the original reg plate.
Am I being a bit paranoid? Should I just think, to hell, can Leith accept a Hibby reg plate on an almost “maroon”coloured car?
Answers on a postcard.
