Fish suppers are getting a bit too pricey.
The wife and I sometimes share one. I get most of the chips. Times are hard!
I know what you mean. Theyre not actually stupidly pricey, it's just compared to the other options. I sometimes fancy one, see the prices, and end up with a black/haggis(/red if I'm in Fife) supper instead at half the price of the fish.

Franco's in stockbridge is my new local - it seems nice.
    Mon the Hibs.

Stopped going to the BBQ as the chips were a bit on the soggy side and now go to Roberto's at Duart, which although not brilliant is the better chippy IMO.

Remember when the chips were cooked in lard? Ah, now that was when chips were great.
    Lard bit... Spot on!

Now that they use vegetable oil everything is cooked at a lower temperature making it all a wee bit soggy and unhealthy as the food soaks in some of the oil :-(

I used to go there years ago when it was Bratisanni's - one of a few in the town.

Remember a bag of chips from Bratisanni's after swimming at the commie.

    Great chippy. Shame it's gone.

Beef dripping is what you want. If you’re ever passing Callander, pop into Mhor Fish (used to be the Ben Ledi cafe). Everything fried in dripping. Yum.

It's also the only fish and chip shop that can be seen from space.

Well - when you're coming in to land at Edinburgh airport in the dark it can be difficult to make out any Edinburgh landmarks, but Javits is always obvious.

Off topic - but ER looks fantastic from the air at night when they have the lights on,
