Good interview. It's interesting what he says about doing shooting practice with no goalie, so he can practice placing or bending the ball.

Thing is, he was no role model to them at the time.

    He's about six months older.

I realise he's a similar age, but a role model is not necessarily older.

Anyhow, I'm pleased he's still playing and enjoying football.

Interested to know why you think Dobbie should be the role model? O'connor and Riordan in terms of league football more experienced than him at time of Hibs arrival.

We should have signed him for this season to replace Cummings.

Er, because in the interview he is reflecting on how his professionalism has helped him to have a longer career than those two.

In their early 20s none of them were dedicated athletes. Now one is and guess what? He's still playing professional football.

To be fair, Dobbie does not come across as judgmental. He seems to accept he was as bad as anyone back then.

Good read. He takes responsibility for his own actions . Always better to see stories like this rather than the repeated ones about gifted players that threw it away.

A great example of what hard work can get you.

no one would expect a player at queen of the south to be competing in the EPL, or even top end of the English championship, but he did, for several years.

He had talent as a youngster, and realised that he had to marry that with hard work and professionalism, and went on to reap the rewards. There’s been many young players who should have been sat down and shown his career as a template to success, rather than thinking they’ve made it when they’ve played a handful of games in a Scottish first team.

Good read cheers. The fact that he helped 3 clubs to get to the EPL but only ever played 9 games in the English top flight.

I thought we should’ve gone for him at the start of last season. He’s probably proven I was right.

Thought he was good when he was with us, just needed to shift that weight. Unfortunately he did it after leaving us!
