Marvellous. Let’s hope our cup win continues to galvanise us in a similar way. The parallels are there.

Not a bad watch ... and great to see Hibs featured several times thanks to the Irvine Welsh interviews - couple of shots of Celtic, a wee camera pan across the Ibrox main stand and a brief mention of Motherwell in connection with Ian St. John but Hibs featuring most prominently by far amongst Scottish teams. Glenbuck Cherrypickers and Cronberry Eglinton got more mentions than Hearts ... as they should, of course.

Thoroughly enjoyed that. Some excellent and emotional contributions, particularly from St. John and Keegan, also Hugh McIlvanney and the fans who were interviewed. Good to see ER featured in it too.
My family affections are with the blue half of the city but I can't think of anyone who is revered on Merseyside, and beyond, the way Shankly is.

Hard to believe that Cronberry was once home to about 800 people when you see it now.

Indeed and same with Glenbuck - once a busy wee village - now just opencast.

Interesting comments from Ian St John during the programme about the referee having cheated Shanks out of possibly winning the European cup in 1965 (two years before Celtic became first British club to win that trophy).

He came right out and said the referee, during the semi-final return leg against Inter Milan, had been "got at", and that Shankly had been told before the game that Liverpool would not win.
