Looking at Ireland's team tonight its baffling how they do relatively well, even given the fact they had an easy group. They've got some stinking players and the likes of Paul McShane and Matt Doherty make their bench.
Ireland rarely produce exceptional players but they've always got competitive players in abundance. I think the fact a lot of them grow up playing Gaelic football has a part to play in explaining that. It's a more physically demanding game that develops skills that translate well to association football IMO.

They're industrial, hard to beat and have a good manager.

I don't think they had an easy group. Serbia are a good side, Wales are a good side and Austria are no mugs. They went to both Austria and Wales and won.

Could be a long night for ROI, The Danes look like a decent side.

Could be. Or it could be a very frustrating night for the Danes if the Irish have their way. Won't make for much a spectacle but they'll not bother about that if they get back to Dublin with a nil nil draw tonight.

Is there any suggestion Martin O’neill could move on after this campaign?

Signed a new contract a couple of months ago, as did Keane.

Phew I'm glad it's not just me. I'm wearing my I Shot JR t-shirt too and if the boys in green win then bishop Brennan's getting a boot up his arse

No wonder - Copenhagen feels like a budget holiday compared to Dublin, Cork or Galway..

Nothing likeable about this Ireland team, but to be honest I think that's always been the case, unsurprising there's little affinity with them.

They get good results but they are anti football 1st minute until the last. Horrendously boring team

They do what they can with the resources they have. If Scotland could do likewise we'd be going to Russia next summer. I'd take an ugly boring anti-football qualification after 20 years of mostly boring failure.

Speak for yourself. I and many other Hibbies DO have a strong affinity with EIRE.

Apart from the unity of the players, collective determination to see out their game plan and the fact they're 90 mins away from another major championship.

Admirable attributes no doubt, and I doubt if their fans care that they are dire to watch, why should they, good luck to them. But they will offer absolutely nothing to the tournament should they bludgeon their way through again.

We all know exactly how this tie will be decided don't we? It's got the hertz luckiest deflection strategy written all over it!

Maybe if McInnes doesn't take it.
