    NHC World cup play offs

N Ireland v Switzerland (Thurs and Sun)
Croatia v Greece (Thurs and Sun)
Sweden v Italy (Fri and Mon)
Denmark v Rep Ireland (Sat and Tues)

and for good measure the intercontinental playoffs

Honduras v Australia (Fri and Wed)
NZ v Peru (Fri and Wed)

Some pretty interesting match ups there. My own guessometer says Switzerland, Croatia, going for a bit of a shock with Sweden over Italy and I think Ireland.
Australia and Peru for the other two spots.

Peru is actually a 3am GMT kickoff Saturday morning. Hopefully they'll keep it tight in Wellington and then do the job back at home. Be great to see them at another big tournament. Wonder if BT sport or sky are showing it?

One of the most beautiful, iconic kits in World football.

Would be great to see them get through for that alone (I'm too young to have been scarred by 1978).

Indeed. In fact, a World Cup without Buffon isn’t right. That’ll take some getting used to.

You’ve literally described the good old days of Italian football – look up catenaccio and Helenio Herrera.

They've qualified for every major tournament since 1958. Incredible really.

The Michael O'Neill speculation is bound to start up again if/when they get knocked out.

Morocco-Ivory Coast a massive game on BT Sport at 5:30. Winner goes to Russia, loser out. Lots of talent on both teams.

Game over I think, but it looked like the officials were giving a suspicious amount of decisions Moroccos way early doors. Some really bizarre decisions.

    Hope Denmark go through.

As I am moving to austrilia to coach football would be great of they could qualify and draw more interest to the sport.

Couldn't care less what country's make it. Scotland aren't there and that's all I'm after.

The play offs across the world are weighed heavily in favour of the "bigger" nations. So **** fifa. I'd rather all the unseeded teams sneaked through.

I'll be rooting for sveedn tonight

I love international football, whether Scotland are there or not. That's Senegal joining the party. Sweden-Italy shortly...Ace Ventura goes back to 352 tonight after ill fated flirting with a 424 formation (yes ive been listening to James Richardsons pod this week).

Looking forward to the Sweden v Italy clash. Im an admirer of italian football but as I put in the OP I've just got a feeling that Sweden might do a number on them.

Much to your pleasure Im sure I think England will take a tanking tonight looking at the team they have out against Germany.

Gianlugi Buffon makes his 174th appearance for Italy tonight. That’s incredible. Does anyone know what the record amount of international appearances is?

    United we stand here....

I'm sure Gianlugi delayed the taking of that Swedish freekick to comb his hair for the camera.
