Right, my ITK credentials are generally the square root of zero.
This isn't a red-hot transfer rumour, but during what is set to be a dull International week I'm sure you'll all agree that this is a matter of great importance.
I heard over the weekend from what I would consider to be a pretty good source that Brandon Barker's uncle was/is in 808 state, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of this on the internet.
Is there anyone out there with knowledge of the Barker family or the late 80s Manchester/ Acid House scene who could confirm this?
(One of the chaps on keyboards - the one in the blue suit and hat with ginger hair - is called Andrew Barker).

I like 808 state and met him and the other member of band whom is also DJ. Got a few of my records signed.
Perhaps when he scores we should play Pacific.

I thought 808 was an old fashioned name for a type of explosive. I must be getting really old.

The electric sax (I assume that's what it is) is incredible, who even knew that was a thing?!

Even an old fogey like me owns a couple of 808 records, only thing that would impress me more would be if BB was the funniest Ronnie’s secret love grandchild

Saw them about 4-5 years ago at The Caves, or was it The Voodoo Rooms? Guy walks on stage with a laptop, plugs it in, presses a button and their songs play, I coined the phrase Laptop Rock that night.

That’s quality. Saw them a few times during the rave halcyon days. Great story!

Sorry, just to clarify - 808 State were a "band" who were most popular at the end of the 80s, start of the 90s.
The clip in the original post is from when they appeared on Top of the Pops in 1989.
Brandon Barker's uncle is playing one of the keyboards in the clip.
I loved 808 State and was keen to get input as to whether this rumour was true or not and I'm delighted to have had this confirmed as being true.

And play it after he eventually scores. Would be tremendous under floodlights. Get some strobes involved.

I'd maybe tweak it to Bran-don Bar-ker, Bran-don Bar-ker, Bran-don Baaaaaaaaaaar-ker.
I think these were the lyrics they were looking for, couldn't find, so had to settle for an electric sax.
