Thread: The save

  1. #31
Two astonishing saves in two games, along with other good stops. May have dropped points against Killie and today if not for him.

I am a big fan of Marciano. Saved a cracker today and had a blinder v Motherwell. Folks should keep the amazing stuff he does in mind for times he might make a mistake. Loneliest position on the pitch and when it goes well, he's a hero.

Was it over the line? It looked like it might be to me.

The fact that when the ball went up the park and out of play, Stevenson and Ambrose both turned and applauded it. Genuinely one of the best saves if not the best from a Hibs keeper in my years watching Hibs.
Yep, directly after the save NL called after him, then as he got Ofir's attention, gave him a proper round of applause. Incredible. Looked in as soon as he struck it.

Can't honestly think of many better in my 50+ years of watching Hibs.

we were more or less in line with it in the west upper and it definitely didn't cross the line.

Not only was it an unbelievable save but it changed the game for us. That's why we spent money to bring him here!
It certainly did change the game. Immediately after that great save Hibs moved up a gear which led to a great winner.

Hibs may well have lost today if not for that stunning save.
Yes, good goalkeepers win their team points. That save probably did.

I'm very fortunate to sit fairly far up in the East in Section 43, so I have a great view at that end of the pitch, and it looked like it was on or near the line but not in, good to have someone in line confirm that my eyes went deceiving me

A good save from boyd on Tuesday and has looked very assured since back in,wonder if the sellick game might have worked out differently if he had played?

Proper hands over mouth moment when he pulled that off...sensational save that was as good as a goal.

Who knows. To be fair to Laidlaw, he has been a very good replacement in the main. Marciano had a poor game v Motherwell at ER.

We actually have 2 very good goalkeepers at the club, something of a bit of a rarity at Hibs.

I agree with the previous poster that it is the best save I have seen from a Hibs keeper since that fat Hun Goram played for us. That was a goal 99 times out of 100 and he can now rightly say he has got us some points back after he contributed to some earlier lost points. Thought he played very well today and I don't think he had much chance with their goal.
That the save from a volley by crabbe at tiny?

Just watched it.. way better than Gordon’s v Whittaker.

    Incredible.

He did have a poor game but it wasn't like it was 3 or 4 bad games & as the no1 keeper he should have played in that game,as you say who knows how things would have worked out if he did play.

I think it was more to do with Marciano missing the Celtc league game at Parkheid due to the Jewish Yom Kippur where he couldn't play that weekend. Laidlaw kept the gloves after that as he hadn't made a mistake. He made the mistake in the semi final which gave Marciano the gloves back to him.

Thanks, but only works outside the UK at the moment. Put the VPN on to see it and it was a class save, down so quick to get it.

Great save - just watched it again - - ball was travelling - would like to have seen stokes offside goal....

Aye,he had played well prior to hampden, clean sheet v ross county, couple good saves and not at fault for sheep goal,if you play well you should keep the jersey so fair enough.

    Top quality by Marciano.

Stokes probably quite lucky that his swift jab to guy's nether region wasn't spotted although the Dundee player's reaction was embarrassing.

Great finish for the two goals.

He's got no right to get to that. Fantastic save.

You can't watch that video if you're in the UK, unless you're using a VPN.
