which is why I opted to suffer over the weekend until I could see my GP.
I don't know what the situation is in Perthshire, but up here there are out of hours GP's that work alongside A&E and take the non-emergency referrals from NHS24, so people wouldn't have to do what you did and suffer all weekend till the GP surgery opens.

I guess I am very biased as I work for the NHS But! They have saved my life and are keeping me alive when 40 or 50 years ago it wouldn't be possible. They saved my daughter's life when she was a few months old and suffering from a still unknown virus and dehydrated (She's fine now and a very healthy wee girl) and are currently keeping my mother alive who had a 4 year prognosis about 6 years ago. We do well in the country and selling it out will be a disgusting failure for any party involved.

Its a fairly damning report. But in truth, while the NHS is certainly not the nats strong point at the moment, i doubt any govt of any persuasion would be any different. Sure, an incoming govt might promise a few hundred milliobln more, as AS point out that will only juat cover the cuts, sorry the, ahem, efficiency savings.

The system is just way out of kilter with societal needs, expectations and resources.
