St Johnstone 1 vs Hibs 1 (Paton OG) FT

Should be a tough game for us today, hopefully come away with 3 points but 1 would do us from a good St Js team.

Will it be same team as last week or will Lennon make changes.

    C'mon the Hibs

Strong team and bench. Playing the old 'boyle's doubtful' trick. Having him one wing and barker the other looks dangerous.

Attacking line up, Bartley to be the key man again.

Hopefully Hibs don't give the opposition a goal of a start this week. Hibs really need to score first to take anything today.

A draw wouldn't be a bad result against a decent team on their own ground. A win would be superb.

Hibs twitter has McGregor playing in one tweet, and Barker in another...presume Barker starts given Lennon mentioned McGregor was injured

Happy with that, although I do still prefer Lewis at LB, particularly when there's a winger in front of him and he can concentrate more on defending.

Delighted to see Boyle back. With Barker on the other side we can do what no-one else has done for a while (maybe Celtic?), and that is, pull them wide. Their defence is good when they are compact, let's see how they do when they are pulled out.

Wonder why Lewis is not playing again?

Lewis has done nothing to deserve being dropped IMO.

A victim of our captain and one of the summer marquee signings being full backs.

I'm excited by that line up, Whittaker can be our best attacking option whereas Lewis can get into good positions and then slow play down. I'm thinking O'Halleran plays down their left and matching him up against SDG is a good idea

Unfortunately for him he's behind a current Scottish international in the queue for a game. Doesn't mean he's done anything wrong, just that he's not as good as him.

would prefer for stevenson to be playing left back and whittaker dropped to the bench, especially with us starting 2 wingers he would provide better cover defensively and can concentrate on just being a defender up against a good st johnstone team. apart from that like the rest of the lineup

I don't think Whittaker has shown anything in the games he's played to suggest he should be keeping either Gray or Stevenson out the team. Whittaker should be on the bench at the moment imo.

I can only think of one goal and one great cross for Stokes' goal.

Disagree ... far more composed on ball and distribution is far better and creative tha both.

However I do have occasional concerns re his sometimes lacsidaisical attitude to get out to cut out the cross ball

I would've had Stevenson and Gray at full back, especially with four forwards.

If we're going to get in the top 3 then at times we're going to have to be bold and this lineup, against one of our rivals for those places, is a good sign of intent that we are going to be bold. Lewis is a good left back but SW is just a better attacking player in my opinion and gives us added goal threat while probably expecting SDG to be fully pinned down looking after their form player

Does every time someone gets dropped need an explanation? There will be changes through out the season. Whittaker provides a lot more going forward and his distribution is what gets him in the team IMO.

Dropping Lewis for Whits is very odd. It is a very attack minded team tho.

I tend to agree. However when the window closed and I looked at the depth and quality of the squad we had with the likes of Porteous coming through and thought there'd be times like this when players will be rotated which will help us in the long run perhaps.

It's also Lennons shout about who best fits his tactics for a particular game. We'll see today. I suspect his decision re Lewis today is tactical only.

Be interesting to see how the internatioal break has helped the team and its preparations/fitness issues - thought we were very poor against Dundee, lots of room for improvement, I'll be surprised if we take anything from the game today ...

He didn't drop him - he was already out of the side?

Any Hibs TV subscribers from abroad fancy sharing there login details so I can get the game on radio? Over in Orlando just now and hoped to listen in. Was going to sign up but as it's just for the 1 game thought I'd try here first. Any help appreciated.
