What's the history behind this? I read their thread on the 2011 game but I can't ever remember hearing about it at the time??

In 2011, a large group of Sunderland 'Fans' charged down Easter Road before the game attacking anybody in Hibs colours.
They've got some nerve to complain about Hibs having a hooligan element.
