I was there, fabulous goal, ball to Duncan who raced down the left squared it across the box & Harper did the rest.

I my first ever European game, Mam didn't want me to go incase there was bother "wi the English fans" only relented when my uncle took me, I was only ten! Got soaked but have great memories of that night. Recently picked up the home program on e bay for £1.50, happy days! 2nd leg indeed we lost 3-1, sure we missed a penalty at home?

I was there, we scored 1st, Alex Edwards if I remember correctly. We lost 3 goals to 3 headers at the back post, Toshack!

Eddie dropped Pat Stanton for that game and it cost us dearly. They had a wee fall out.

Liverpool went on to win it, so it took the best team in the comp to just sneak by us! 🇳🇬

Yep. John Toshak scored his first hat trick for Liverpool.
My mum made me a green, white and green flag for the first match and when I got home it was green, lime green and green.

I was in the seated enclosure behind the goal. I remember a group of about 5 nervous scousers sitting in the row in front of me. 1 of whom was wearing a great big floppy red cap about the size of a large pizza.

Did Clemence not save a John Brownlie pen?

He did, that would have put us 2 up at ER.

Not really. He waited until the ball stopped moving then picked it up.

Brownlie was a superb player, but that penalty was one of the most feeble I've seen.

Yes, I was there. It was a great era to be a Hibby. Times have changed, TV money has seen to that and I doubt if we'll ever get back to these dizzy heights again.

Who was the regular pen taker for the tornadoes ? I feel I should know this but cant think. I would have O'Rourke taking them.

Wasn't at that one but was at the one in 1970 when Toshack scored and we lost 1-0. Was in the coo Shed and despite getting beat it was still a memorable European night when we could go toe to toe with the best.

Sadly nowadays due to the Sky megabucks these days are gone forever.

    John Brownlie.

Don't think we ever got enough to have a regular taker. Had he scored 3-1 at Liverpool would have taken us through.

Liverpool went on to win the tournament then built on it to win the European Cup the following season. The whole history of football may have swung on one miskick.

Thankyou, will pm you when I'm home on laptop, username comes from abiding memory as a boy standing right on the touch line behind the wall & watching Erich taking throw ins from what seemed like the half way line & flinging them into the box! All I can see in my mind is a large backside in white shorts in front of me! Seemed apt in memory of a great player, sadly missed but not forgotten 🇳🇬
