It should be remembered that when we built the end stands, they went well over budget because STF decided to splash the cash on the internal finishes (chandeliers, etc.).
There was no obligation for him to consult the fans, so he didn't.

I still don't understand what prevented them from having Eecutive Boxes (facing the pitch) at the back of the stand. This is quite common in a lot of stadia, even where the stand is single tier.
It doesn't exactly have to be much taller to fit them in either.

I see they have opened a PR agency where fans can get the latest on castle views, luxury toilets and super-sized chip kiosks:

To announce a £2m cost over run so early into the build is impressive. There is lots of scope still for that to rise again.

So most building projects have a contingency of around 10-15%, their overspend with 9 weeks construction to go it at 16.6%, although that does include design changes it seems a lot for a project of this size. Do we want to do a wee sweep on the final overspend figure? I'm gonna go for a nice round 25%
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

To be fair, ever since Cathro took charge they've been keen on moving the goalposts!

The bottom line is that Budge is doing the right thing by building them their new stand. Yes there's FOH money in there (approved by the FOH board), together with all their other fund raising efforts, but Budge is, for the time being, paying the rest - probably around £8m from her pocket.

I think we know some of the overspend items already.
They originally planned to use the foundations of the old stand to build the front part of the new stand. The structural engineers said , no way, not if you want us to sign for structural integretry of the stand. Old founds. had to be dug out and new reinforced concrete foundations installed. Rather difficult as the back of the stand blocked access.
The extra safety work to the Distillery storage tanks is a big one. Originally they hoped they would get away with a few splash guards on the top of the old containment wall but the Health and Safety Exec. had other ideas. The finalised plans show new reinforced concrete L-shaped panels fixed to new massive reinforced concrete foundations along the full 100 metre length of the old 4 metre high wall.
I would guess all this is being paid for out of their season ticket money and they hope the direct debits will keep flowing and keep the Tynie lights on and the wage bills met.

I hope she's factored in £4000 for another owl when it's all finished.
