Players like the below you mean?:

    Rob Jones
    Liam Fontaine
    Marvin Bartley
    David Gray

Edit - Leigh Griffiths was struggling for a regular game in League 1 when he left Wolves for Celtic.

Have you, as you seem to be shouting the odds for him
Lennon said he's aiming for 2nd in the league, need much better than McGuire

I've not hence why I'm not dismissing him out of hand. Though, if Hibs/Lennon are interested then I'm sure our scouting team have had an eye on him.

Plenty players have came to us from League 1 in the past and done well. 2 of them even captained us to our last cup wins!

He's not really a wide player. Pretty much has a free role with Oxford & is very much regarded as their talisman. Good player but unfortunately in an area where we're already pretty strong, if we keep everyone & they're fit.
Aye, you can't move for creative, goal scoring midfielders at Hibs right enough.

I somehow ended up watching an oxford game on BT or Sky this season. Chris Maguire was the best player on the park. Good technically, good touch, could beat a man and was a goal threat. He was playing in behind the striker that was at Dundee before moving to England, cant remember his name now.

We would only have Swanson and Boyle that play similar roles.

He would be a good addition imo

Scored 17 goals this season in league one
Swanson i agree but hes nothing like Boyle. I was thinking more of Dylan & SJM.

I hope not. Nowhere near good enough.
Can you explain why you've come to that conclusion? Have you see much of him lately? Every time we are linked with a player it's guaranteed there will be a few comments along the lines of yours. I'm not sure what level folk think we are competing with.

What have those two scored since they arrived? About 10 between them?

If you accept NL will always play at least 1 holding mid player & everyone on here always wants width, say Boyle, then that leaves us 2, max 3 spots for Maguire to compete against SJM, Dylan & Danny. I think thats an area of strength. I'd be happy for us to sign Maguire but I think there's more urgent areas to improve, notably up front.

Whilst that makes sense, we don't need to strengthen up front as much if we have more goals from midfield.

Always liked the look of Maguire when he was at Aberdeen, had similar qualities to Riordan (although not as good) i thought, great technically, but maybe lacking the work rate and discipline to play at a higher level. Sounds like he has been doing OK down south, would definitely take him.
Scottish by birth. Hibee by the grace of God.

Chris Maguire scored 1 goal every 8 games last time he played in the SPFL.

All hypothetical but Maguire wouldn't be competing with the likes of McGinn or McGeough at all. Has he not always played up front, or maybe out wide?Certainly not in the middle of the park as an out and out midfielder that those two are.

Is this a mate who is likely to be 'in the know'?
This is the first time he's given me anything apart from a bit of lip.

17 goals and a 12 assists from him this season. A cracking signing on paper if we got him.
    Probably why he's being linked.

How many of those were as a substitute? Remember he was 16-22 while playing for Aberdeen so I imagine many of his early appearances would have been.

His record was 12 in 44 for all comps the season he left, that's better than 1 in 4.

Position wise they would be competing for the same positions attacking mid, winger or striker with Boyle.

Mcgeouch and Mcginn are centre mids and not similar to him in the slightest imo.

Maguire would be a decent signing , alot better than some of the names getting mentioned

I would be very happy for Chris Maguire to join us but there's some strange posts on here about his current role at Oxford. He's definitely not a wide man & he's not really an out & out midfield player. Although many sites call him a striker im not sure that fits either. He plays more in the Keats role,in behind a striker. He's scored a decent amount of goals but many have been from free kicks & pens so hard to quantify his ability as a supposed striker. IMO our priority is an out & out striker, a focal point, a hold up player who scores goals. In fact, what Holt & Graham were meant to give us. I would be happy with Maguire but not at the expense of us signing a genuine striker.

His set pieces look great on the YouTube clip, but haven't we been there before with good footage seen but goods not delivered?

Roll on the new season, don't know about you lot, but I'm really bored on Saturdays.

I'd imagine we will sign more than one player.

We should go back to signing players on TDD like we used to in the good old days!
I would not recommend that but if that's your choice then you go with it.
