    Away colours

Anyone know where yellow and purple came from in respect of away strips?
Any other colour acceptable apart from blue obviously?
    Orange maybe ?

Purple strip was about 1977 Bukta where the sponsors.
Yellow one came out about the early 2001/2002
I Remember buying it for my laddies the day before we went to Florida "people thought it was the Brazilian strip " No idea how the colour came about.

Maybe I'm imagining it but did the purple idea not come from Tom Hart's wife? The first time we wore it was away to Sporting Lisbon in 72 then I don't think we saw it again till away to Celtc around 77 or 78.

The yellow kit I have no idea, maybe a "neutral" colour.

Was there not a yellow Hibs kit in the 80s. Sure I have seen footage of Tony Higgins scoring v Celtic in a yellow top and green shorts.

We wore purple back in 1972/73 away to Sporting Lisbon

Like all the other clubs our away strip is to extract more money from the fans. There is no other reason for having one.At one time it was called a change strip.

You're not imagining it. That's exactly how it came about

Was the first yellow not circa 1997?

This one. Up until then it was white or purple.

We had a yellow strip for TV during the Bukta years with no sponsors name on it back in the late 70's

That strip was made of an asbolutely brutal material. It was bloody roasting to play football in and was really scratchy.

Purple is part of our tartan.

Yellow is rank, I hate when our strips come out in that colour. Never bought one.

Did the association with purple not come from the games against Real Madrid in the 60's, with Real having purple in their badge.

See above - our former Chairman's wife thought it was a nice colour. That is all

In fact I remember now, it was the Crown on the Madrid badge not the colour that was borrowed.

I've always regarded purple as our away colour since the purple bukta strip. White and yellow have probably been as common if not more though.

Purple top with white sleeves this season please.

I was given a yellow Bukta strip for my 6th or 7th birthday, which would probably put it late 70s.

Don't know if it was a change / away strip or goalkeeper top

I think the new macron away kit will be yellow, judging by the marketing material for next season.

Have we used the same away colour 2 years in a row in recent times?

We had black in the relegation season, white in Stubbs 1st season, purple the Scottish Cup season then yellow last season. The marketing certainly suggests yellow but it would be a change from our recent way of doing things.
