We didn't get a parachute payment this Season if memory serves me right
Assume every team gets a payment based on position but its no millions being banded about thats for sure

Interesting that you get more for going down in the playoffs. I assume its because you go down as 11th placed and not last but it seems strange to get an extra 100 thousand in the second season purely based on where you finished two seasons ago.

I suspect it came as part of the horse trading to get the SPL clubs to accept the relegation playoffs.

The original idea when the SPL breakaway involved no promotion or relegation between the SPL and the SFL. They eventually settled on one up and down and a play off for a second potential relegation as per previously.

I am not sure when the parachute payments came in but the current system presumably dates from the remerger of the SPL and SFL to form the SPFL.This would give bargaining power to the established SPL clubs to dictate terms or to veto any proposal they did not like.
