Through the years we have had some gems sign for us that none of us knew anything about. From Russell lately to Ivan sproule.
But who has been the best for you???
I think for pure quality and fitting into/making a side work it has to be beauzlin for me

Latapy. I was young so can't really remember him signing but can remember him playing. If he was actually an unknown at the time (not sure if he would have been as he certainly had a history of playing at good sides) then it has to be him.

Was David Gray really unknown?
There were threads on here every transfer window for about 7 years saying he was coming

Jorge Claros was relatively unknown and a cracking player. Can't really beat the likes of Boozy and Sproule though, along with Benji and Zemamma, although wasn't Zemamma a full international and already a known class act by the time he came to us?

Ivan was a real unknown. Even he didn't know how good he was! Playing part time in Irish League, who was it who spotted him? All the others mentioned on the thread were already established at a good level. Ivan for me was the guy who came from off the radar to become a Hibs legend!

Sproule or Jason Cummings. They were genuine unknowns in that they weren't even full time footballers, one fixed TVs, the other was a gardener.

I would pay triple my season ticket to watch a player like Zemmama at hibs. A truly brilliant player. I still have wet dreams about that ball he played into stokes for the equaliser at Ibrox. Under appreciated in his time and a great lad too.

I'd never heard of Russell Latapy before he signed, but what a signing and what a player. And for someone who liked to smoke and drink, and lived life to the full, he played into his 40s.
Probably up there with some of the best players i have seen at Hibs.
