I've no idea myself but perhaps you have the stats on how fans were divided on the issue?

A lot on here also wanted him gone, and i was at quite a few and also saw every game on tv through either sky/bt or Hibstv.

    Were you at many?

I made most games last season, unfortunately missed the cup semi due to family reasons but I think Holt was outstanding at times, causing defences serious problems with his strength and movement. He worked hard for the side which enabled Cummings to find space and ultimately played a massive part in alot of our goals and our eventual promotion . Then again this board is all about opinion and I appreciate not everyone will have the same opinion as me

The stats dont back that statement up, Cummings did not score anymore goals when Holt was in the side than when he was not.

Holt play an integral part of last season's promotion. Unfortunately guys like yourself can't see that unless a striker is banging on 20 goals a season

What happened to the Sibbald and Grant rumour? Would both be very good additions.

We also need cover for Bartley as Fyvie is away. Still think assuming Whittaker has signed we are about 4-5 players off being where we need to be.

Grant would be a waste of a wage. Not because he isn't good enough but because centre half is the last place we need another player. We have 5 first teamers plus Porteous probably in the squad if needed. I would hope we do no other business in that area of the pitch. Finalising Rocky, Whittaker, two wingers and two goalscorers are must haves.

Holt is a striker who didn't score for 4 months. He scored 5 league goals, 1 a pen, & 2 after we had won the league. Despite that I liked Grant but it's a huge stretch to say he played a huge, or even an integral part in last year's league campaign. I would have been happy for him to get another year but I'm not upset that he's gone.

Derek Riordan? He could still do a job for us and we need a forward.

your taking this to the enth degree, imo. big Holt played his part last season. I thought he was at retiral stage half way through the season, but do remember he got us back into the semi-final.

I dunno how he managed that as he rarely spent any time in the box.

He did, i'd say he was fantastic that day, as good a performance as i have seen from a centre forward in a Hibs shirt in years.

90% of the rest of his time was meh in my opinion, i expect fannie man to sign him soon, and carry on all the great work he did for JC, how will he continue to score goals without the man who made most of his chances?

As long as Haymaker and Steve are posting that's a certainty. Plus the occasional Leigh rumour....

I get the concerns however for a club like Aberdeen (or us) who don't pay many fees to offer that much for someone recovering from such bad injuries is bonkers imo.

He's been out injured for most of his time down south. £250k is a big gamble.

Wasn't it one horrible injury rather than him being prone to injuries though? I would love us to try and sign him.
If Aberdeen have Rooney and May up front they will pissing their pants with joy.

Who says we aren't also in for May?

What "has beens" are we chasing? As I wouldn't be putting Lafferty/Whittaker/Rocky in that category and Pennant is on a trial so needs to prove he's worth a contract so hardly us chasing him.

I was talking about Lafferty and Pennant.. sorry but they don't get me excited about them playing for Hibs .. just my opinion
