Joey Barton couldn't lace his boots. On the face of if it, it's a Sauzee-esque signing IMO.

I think its a solid signing.

This guy has played at the top level and picked up the Euros last year.
Agreed. He is also a former Portuguese League Player of the Year. He has also won the league title 7 times in the last 12 seasons in 3 different countries.

Yeah but seeing as he signed for The Rangers I like to see the worst in it and hopefully will be caught out by the game here and have a nightmare when JC rips him a new one.

Here hopes for another big clownshoe on big money being a fail.

    I'm assuming you're joking.

That's a signal of intent from the Huns. He might be 35 but he's an absolute class act and will stroll the SPL.
His off-the-charts wealth made it possible to sign for them.

No doubt Alves suits their new style of play.

Also a fan of Luke Leahy, very good going forward and has a good left foot.

Certainly be a different option to Stevenson on the left.

Cant imagine we will go for him as have Lewis, Crane and Mackie.
I have a different view and think that we can get better than Stevenson and that personally I am not that sure about Crane being of the Premier standard and definitely not Mackie ... he has struggled to be the first choice in the development team so, I do think there is room for a new left back !

Stability is important though. Stevenson is part of a very successful defence we have. Why risk upsetting it. It's in the forward areas where we struggled last season and that's where our efforts and budget should be.

I thought his visa currently restricted him from playing in England?

Was Mackie not injured for a lot of the dev team's season? Add to that the fact that Crane is/was their captain & is a left back too..... any time I've see Sean he's impressed me! Think he would have been out on loan if he hadn't gotten injured

It sounds like hot air to me.... goes on to say that due to his visa issues that Scotland is the most likely location for him.

Most Transfer news at this time of the year seems to be chinese whispers!

I give you Alves and raise you Senderos, Barton and Kranjaer.

Dads army all over again. Hope he's costing a fortune.

The hope is that Ambrose, apart from wanting to play for Hibs, also knows that his work permit extension is much easier with a club he has been on loan to rather than with a club in another country?

He wont be cheap, just look at his previous employers and the money he has been on! Wonder why Cagliari are so happy to cancel the next year of his contract plus the optional extra year if he is so good?

Plus all the above were touted as being able to rip our league but it didn't happen.

King reported as saying he will give Pedro all 13m raised through season ticket sales. So... where does the money come from for non-foorball staff wages ? Stadium repairs ? Every day costs of running a business ? Tax & VAT payments ? Level 5 lie sheet ? It costs a lot of money to run a business the size of New Rangers Ltd. They better hope this is another lie Or they are going down the tubes again.

Jordan Jones out of contract after a good second half of the season at Killie and stalling on a new deal. Fast, left-sided winger. Worth a look?

I would be happy to let Efe look elsewhere. Really like the guy but we already have 4 CBs and the money needs to go elsewhere imo.

So if we play 3 at the back we only have 1 back up?

Seeing as there a point last season when McGregor was suspended and both Fontaine and Hanlon were injured, would that not leave us a little light?

It's the same approach that we take.

For years we were told that every penny from ticket sales goes on the team, I assume it's still the same.

The money to pay for all the other things comes from other income.

Why do folk always ways go on about VAT?? Does my head in!!

  27. #626
As their season ticket money goes on the current team they'll have to move a lot of them on before it makes any difference.

Surely that would depend on whether Porteous is sent out on loan again?

And I'm not a fan of three at the back for our current squad. Gray and Stevenson are full backs, not wing backs.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

    Just watched the Falkirk game.

Luke Leahy is some player and is brilliant going forward. Would like to see us go for him and would cost us nothing as he Is out of contract.

Joe McKee is out of contract in the summer, was very good and controlled the game but ran out of steam as he is just back from injury. As soon as he went off United dominated. Would like to see us go for him.

Simon Murray again is out of contract and showed what he is capable of, buzzes about and makes defenders make mistakes and has a good goal scoring record. Could be a gamble signing but could do worse.

Tony Andreu, a lot seem to want him but imo he is garbage and wouldn't improve us in the slightest. Granted he scored a lot this season but he doesn't influence games in the slightest and looks uninterested. It's a no from me.

We should not be looking at anyone from Dundee Utd or Falkirk.
