It has been widely discussed, on this forum, that we need toadd width and pace to the team. This made me think – Who is the best winger you’veseen in a Hibs team?Successivemanagers have, by and large, failed to recruit a quality wide player. So, do we need to look back in time for a trulyquality wide man?

The best winger I've seen in a Hibs team has just got to be George Best although that's probably not what the OP meant.
I'l go for Alex Edwards, he used to wear the number 7 jersey which was traditionally recognised as being the right winger's shirt number.

Derek Riordan. By far and away his best football for us was when he played wide left for us. Pinging in cracking crosses with either foot or cutting inside an curling them into the top corner with his right.

Arthur Duncan was past his best by the time I started going. Hibs were great to watch when Crunchie & Michael O'Neil were on form, but Joe McBride jnr. was probably my favourite. For a couple of seasons he was the stand out in a pretty mediocre Hibs team.

I remember Arthur still playing for us when i was a boy. Mind him scoring a very quick goal for us at ER but was too young to appreciate him and he was at the end of his career.
So Michael O'Neill and Kevin McCallister for me. In the same side, that was quite something.

The only quality winger I've seen play for Hibs is Ivan Sproule. And tbh, since his first spell we've never really replaced him. That is sad.

Gordon Smith (near the end) Eric Stevenson Peter Marinello Alex Edwards didn't need pace to beat a player .Arthur Duncan had both pace and goalscoring ability

Riordan playing wide left count? If not probably Sproule in my lifetime, he was a real bums-off-seats kind of player
