Im intrigued as to at what point in this crazy descent into fascism our Prime Minister would decide to mildly criticise the new US administration. Or maybe there isn't one.

The guy from Iran that was refused entry today was a surgeon just about to start at Harvard.

Was it only a few days ago the PM said the special relationship meant you could speak out when required?

My opinion on trump was that a lot of outcry was over the top but this not good start,I can't see this ending well at all probably only strengthen right wing and racists views over here, sort of look if they are doing it so should we.

Not that I'm an expert,in would say it's playing right into there hands and making the divide bigger.

If you were serious about protecting people this is the worst possible play.

He even said he would happily use torture techniques (not privately to himself,he came out on TV and said it😳)

    Not looking good at all.

Surely this is actually avoiding really issues in America how many terrorist attacks are there in the US in a year than can be attributed to Muslims? Compared too the gun crime in the US?plus the massive poverty in some of parts of the country plus the phoney war on drugs.

Apparently an average (in past 10 years) of 2 Americans killed per year by Islamic jihadist immigrants. Compared to over 11,000 a year by fellow American regular gun crime. Or 69 a year by Lawnmowers....

Although these are apparently genuine stats, there is really no humour to be wrung from last 24 hours. Major protests apparently now at JFK airport. More to follow around the world we'd have to think, sign me up if there are any in Edinburgh next weekend, perhaps one calling for our vile PM to condemn this madman

If I'm being honest I thought Trump would be a bit of a joke before someone serious came in and took over. I seriously underestimated the fact that he would deliver on the promises he made in the election campaign. Make no mistake, what this guy is doing is resetting the world order.

At least half of America will be applauding his actions. Probably more worrying than what the perpetrator is doing.

Which is a bit odd, given the fact Saudi Arabia is probably the greatest facilitator of terrorist groups in the world. It just shows what a ridiculous policy the ban is.

The start of opposition throught the courts. Trump will also find that some of his intentions will be thwarted by Congress as a number of his own party are not fully supportive of him. The separation of executive, legislative and judicial powers embodied in the US constitution may serve its purpose.

Sorry, PB, I'm going to take the hump at that.

Calling DT "insane" just stigmatises those of us with genuine issues.

Previous US governments would have been calling for economic sanctions to be imposed on any country practising similar procedures. Just goes to show how far right the west has lurched.

Genuinely thought he'd become a bit more, civilised, perhaps? Guys psychotic, worrying that half of America are going to be supportive of this

Fascism is alive and well it seems.

How long until an executive order stating all Muslims wear an identifying symbol on their clothing.

    I'm not kidding either.....
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I know he's the president, but does he not have to go through procedures to do things like this? I thought things like this were agreed by Congress. I was relying on them to keep him reigned in

Not for Executive Orders, which this week's shenanigans have been based on.

It's a curious quirk of the system that the President can do this. Last week, for example, Obama signed orders of amnesty for a number of prisoners, without Congressional approval.

Today's developments... Everyone's favourite Tory Ruth Davison calls for the newly announced Trump state visit to be cancelled. May tells Bumbling Oaf and Occasional Foreign Secretary to call Washington in the morning to ask for exemptions to the travel ban for UK citizens born in the seven targeted countries. (not to say it's wrong, mind you, just that Brits shouldn't be affected by it). Trump annexes the Sudetenland.
