The first Major of the year starts at midnight on Monday UK time.

Sir Andy Murray begins his first Grand Slam tournament as world number one and he plays Ilya Marchenko in round one. Unfortunately for UK viewers the match will be starting about 4am.

Roger Federer will be making his long awaited return into big time tennis on Monday after his injury problems from last year and his first match against Jurgen Melzer will be on at around 10am UK time.

Kei Nishikori and Stan Wawrinka are also playing on day one.

If Sir Andy is going to get his first Australian Open title, his path will probably look like this (world rankings in brackets);

1st round - Ilya Marchenko (93)
2nd round - Yen-Hsun Lu (61)
3rd round - Sam Querrey (31)
Last 16 - Lucas Pouille (16)
Quarter finals - Kei Nishikori (5)
Semi finals - Stan Wawrinka (4)
Final - Novak Djokovic (2)

Very tough run from the Quarter finals onwards.
