    VW

Big fines for VW from the USA for the emmission cheating. Wondered how much our government(s) had fined them.

    Where does the money go?
    Who actually benefits?
Does it fund the US space programme which has very strict emission controls I'm sure.

The US space program has almost zero impact on the environment and will do far more good for the inhabitants of this planet than harm.

If by taking the human species off it, then I suppose you're right.

Okay, but I'd still like to know who actually will directly (or indirectly) reap the benefits from the billion $ fine.

Surely the fine will just go to the feds who will have spent it already by the looks of the US deficit!

The money will most probably go as settlement to the various class actions (investors) that were taken out against them and Fiat.

I can't argue with your first point and on your second I have no idea. I would like to think that given the circumstances the money would go to environmental projects.

I think the first and much larger fine was for that. I think it was $15 billion.
