£ for £ who has been our best signing?

While we're all tuned to SSN or on Hibs.net awaiting news of any arrivals or departures at Easter Road, who would you say has been our best £ for £ signing? Doesn't include loan players. Just players that we have paid money for.

Recent times then Ivan Sproule must be up there.

Closley followed by Joe MacBride Snr for a real bagfull of goals
Then Mickey Edwards for around £12,000 just a magician
Bargain of them all was Mr Shades at around £7,000 and dont know how many games with wingers in his pocket.

Alex Edwards is another candidate. Paid £13K for him in 1971 which today would be £171K. A snip.

Sproule has to be up there, when he was bought people were still paying silly money in the SPL.

£5000 in the early 2000's and the goals/assist return is phenomenal, even won a cup.

I have no idea how much we paid for Le God or if there was a fee involved but whatever it was this Hibernian legend was worth hundreds if not thousands of times more than we did pay out in fees and/or wages.

What did we initially pay for Mixu?

We looked like we were going nowhere in the First Division until he arrived.

    Jim Leighton?

Free from Dundee, no spring chicken yet went on to get Scotland caps, challenging a top keeper in Goram into the bargain.

£5,000 for Sproule has got to be the best piece of business we have ever done.

Arthur total games (incl subs) 616, total goals 111, full backs with tongues hanging around their knees-too numerous to mention but frequently two per game.

If we could get a winger like him for $5000 I would pay it myself.
